Let me see if I’m missing a major premise here. We need to use less carbon and more renewable energy and save the planet?..Check. I need a vehicle. Should I buy something smaller and lighter that takes less material and energy? Nah..Buy a 7000lb truck to just commute with..Conclusion? People are dumb.

iPhone of pickup trucks is a bit of a stretch. It needs like a huge asterisk since it’s a niche product – which is a specific characteristic of the US – while the iPhone is a well recognized and desired product all over the world.
