How come you speak so slow on your own channel but faster on this channel?
Apple Fanboys still buy it though.
base model is more than adequate in my opinion for simple day to day. any video editing just get a Pro
I miss the 12 inch MacBook
Believe me when I say this as an owner of the M2 MBA and the M1 MBP, I highly recommend that you buy the 2020 version of the Macbook Pro with the M1 chip. The M2 chip is not going to give you any noticeable performance improvement and I can tell you first hand that it gets uncomfortably warm on the bottom with every day tasks. Hands down, the 2020 M1 MBP is the best laptop for the money right now and has better storage, thermals, and form factor than any other laptop. The 2021 14″ M1 MBP is too bulky and the 2022 MBP with M2 will not give you any actual benefits over the 2020 M1 MBP – only much high cost. While the form factor of the 2022 M2 MBA is very appealing visually, I prefer not to have the screen notch or heated bottom and it offers very little in terms of weight/size difference to the 2020 M1 MBP. The only really good thing about the 2022 M2 MBA is that the keyboard is absolutely amazing.
You shouldn’t get it at all if you value your privacy. I am still with my M1 MacBook Pro running Big Sur 11.6. Monterey scans your messages and photos. If you have sensitive information like your billing address or social security number in your text messages and photos they are being scanned. Any form on knowing or detecting what is on a device is a form of intruding privacy.
It’s unacceptable from Apple, this base model should’t exists and the minimum should be 512 HD and 16 GB of RAM.
Hi, I mainly use my computer for coding projects. However, I tend to transfer all my compute and storage to AWS. Given these preferences it doesn’t seem like the price increase for extra storage/compute is worth it? What do you think?
How did you do the camera move / fly around and into the keyboard at the start? It’s really cool. Vfx?
Why not recommend people to continue purchasing the M1, which you just said is still good, instead of saying “buy the new one but spend more money to upgrade it”?
$1,899 for the base model in Australia and $2,349 for a 512GB laptop……Ouch!
I ordered the M2 air with 256 GB and 16 Gb ram because it was recommended to me at an apple store. Now I’m worrying that I might have chosen wrong. I have 2TB of iCloud storage so I thought it wouldn’t be an issue. I also will be using the laptop mostly for browsing, school work and maybe I will download a game such as Minecraft, but that’s it. What I use now for school work is a 2018 iPad and the latest MacBook I had was a 2013 MacBook Air so I think everything will be an upgrade. Should I be good or should I really go for the 512 Gb?
You right about SSD. However base model throttles and heats batteries. The higher end version will overheat even faster, as SSD transfer speed is not choked in the bus lane.
Base model M2 seems to be 1 559 € in Finland. With 512 GB SSD upgrade (only) 1 909 €. (VAT included, take 20% off from the previous to get VAT excluded prices).
me crying from my Macbook Pro 256 GB that the Apple associate convinced me in 2018 would be best because I can just use an SSD and have regretted it everyday since: 🥲
Just because you set the Title to “Don’t Get the Base Model M2 MacBook Air” i will buy it.
once u start speccing up an m2 air it becomes far to expensive to justify to someone who just wants a decent laptop.
Almost $1500 for base model in India.. And for 16GB and 512GB model it is around $2000. So at this price I would prefer to get a PC.
MacBook 12inch m2 could be an amazing machine like maybe they’ll discontinue the 13 pro and bring back the 12
This is bad advice for the majority of people who use the MBA primarily for basic usage such as general productivity, web browsing and media consumption. The base M2 MBA is fantastic for this. If you regularly do video/music production, coding etc. or transfer a lot of files then I would upgrade to the 512 GB model.
So many of these reviews are misleading. The people complaining about the base machine typically are doing more intensive workloads than your average user. If you are doing a ton of video editing why are you even considering an entry level laptop to begin with? For 90% of users the base model will be fine for 5 years
