I could not dislike Apple products any more at this point. The price to performance/value is laughable compared to the rest of the market. Anyone mildly considering switching to Windows/Android should do it. I made the change 3 years ago and found that I am much happier overall with my tech and saved some money in the process. Don’t fall for the Apple hype.

I got base model just for some light 1080p editing/2K maybe or rarely ever 4k, some college work, photoshop and thats about it nothing heavy

In the uk i got mine for £1,000 and then extra options for 16GB ram was only £100

the only upgrade I made is 16gb of ram. 512gb is not worth the extra 200 dollars. I have a 1tb sandisk portable ssd that I bought for 100 dollars. I only have 70gb used currently on my m1 MacBook Air.

I was gonna get the 16GB RAM for the Air but after seeing the MacBook Pro 14in drop $250i just went for the MacBook Pro. So in context it’s just $150 more than the Air at the same configuration.

Thanks to your review, I convinced my fiancé to get the 16 GB Ram/512 GB SSD version of the M2 Air. At the pricing though, the 13” XPS is not looking too shabby either. Any Windows/Mac laptop should at least have 16GB of Memory. I’m not as disappointed with the 256GB SSD but memory is a must have.

OK, on the fingerprint issue. If you are old enough to remember the 2007 matte black Macbook, you know that this fingerprint issue is really a non-issue.

The M1 had no flaws and was $1000, it was way too good. You get the M2 base and it’s almost a downgrade with the SSD thing

For most people 256 is ok – my girlfriend has m1 256 base model and she is ok with it – all stuff is in the cloud)

Since the MacBook Air is even more expensive here in the UK, I went for the 14″ MacBook Pro for just over £1700 on Amazon, especially since they offer the option to buy over 5 months at no extra cost.

If they dropped the price of the air to $900 ( now in 2022) and the M2 at $999 or even $1099 for the base models Apple would have won the game again. They would have sold more m1s and the price point of $1k is so sweet and easy to justify getting a base model MacBook m2 which is most of the volume they sell I think.
