Price wise I agree but for most consumers the memory issues wont even be noticeable. It is pretty hard to fill up a 256 gig hard drive if you aren’t doing any editing or gaming.

The way Apple rips off its customers when it comes to storage upgrades… $200 extra for another 256GB of storage? A 256GB M.2 stick is $65 if you go for the fastest SAMSUNG has to offer.

I got the 512GB M2 with the student discount. So I have $100 and got a 150 Apple giftcard that let me get my magsafe duo charger for free. So I am happy with the storage. I feel like the SSD is blown out of proportion cause I had a 128GB intel air, and it was still blazing fast. Most people don’t photo edit on it so that is probably why Apple didn’t care. However, they should have let the consumer know that hey that this model is slower.

macbook air m1 256gb still on sale at apple so they have the dual128gb flash chips instock, they chose not to use them in the m2 macbooks so they consciously nerfed the base model to upsell the 512gb…

I got my M1 Air last year have honestly never felt it get hot. It’s been an incredible machine, and I feel the upgrades I made to it (16gb ram, 512gb ssd) were worth it. This is also on just the base 7-core model. Would I love the new design for all the hardware upgrades? Sure, but is it worth the price of upgrading it to the specs on my current computer for that increased price? Not really, considering M2 is not a giant leap in performance from M1 as M1 was from intel.

Should I get the 512 GB MBA M1 or 256 GB MBA M2? They’re the exact same price where I’m from. I’m mainly gonna be using it as my daily computer, with maybe some video editing & music production here and there.

Apple’s obvious pricing

$1000 – M1MBA
$1400-1600 – M2MBA + 16GB/512
$2000 – M1Pro

Clear price differentiation.

This isn’t really rocket science.
