people think that apple made a mistake? i think apple made a Scam, period. M2 256 slower than M1, so you have to buy an upgrade, that is a Scam
M1 is bullshit
I liked this clip and I like glitter bombs.
I think storage in this day and age isn’t as important as the ram. ArtIsRight did an excellent test of what impact increasing the ram has on the performance of the mba m2 and it performs better than a 512gb model with the same ram. So base line should be 16gb ram with 256GB ssd for anyone considering this laptop because the 8gb ram gets used up quickly and increasing the ram means less reliance on swap memory usage using the new ssd Config (single nand chip)
Will get the m2
if every tests on the net saying the same thing …then the title maybe should be ” Dont buy Air M2 at all till Apple , makes the next step up as a base model with the relevant price”
this white guy wears the same flannel every episode
Apple should not make any Mac laptop, or desktop with less than16 GB shared memory “Fight the swap!”, and 512 GB SSD storage. After using my M1 MacBook Air since March with 16 GB shared memory, and monitoring it with iStat menus I see that I do not see it using swap at all, most all of the time. I hate swap so if you feel like I do that you want data to always be in memory for fastest access, and also cut down on the wear, and tear on your SSD storage purchase a Mac with 16 GB shared memory.
My hope is that Apple keeps the Jony, and Steve MacBook Air design around as a SE entry level $ 999.00 version of the MacBook Air. Just keep it with the previous version M series SOC for normals who just do things like eMail, surf the web, and watch your YouTube type clips.
How about recommending we don’t buy it at all. 8GB and 256GB is really getting very stingy and user unfriendly for the money.
I was fully onboard to replace my base model M1 Macbook Air with the M2 version, but the ssd issue, and the price didn’t sit right with me. $999 makes it a no-brainer, I bought mine for $899. Easy decision, but $1,199 is already $300 more—another $200 more to mitigate the ssd issue just doesn’t make sense. The 256GB NAND chip is a $3 part that Apple is charging $200 for. They should’ve made 512GB the new base model. I’m going to wait for the 14” M2 MBP.
The best thing for me is the form factor. I really like the MacBook Pro and that’s my work computer. But it’s very heavy.
256 on a computer is just straight up unacceptable. My iPhone 13 pro has that amount of storage, and only 2gb less ram than the base model…… wtf apple
1:45 weird random frame
I don’t think it’s your responsibility or anyone doing reviews to suggest someone to buy or not buy a product.
Review it based upon some level principles.
Should you be held liable for purchases based upon your recommendation?
I just feel Youtubers are becoming elitist and punching way above their class and status.. some need to be humble.
does the 512gb unit have dual 256 nands or one big boi?
I really want that midnight colour
Ima go get a m1
Is it worth the upgrade? If you upgrade the M2 Air to 16+512, it will cost you around $1600, this will be around $400 less than the base 14 inch M1 Pro MBP, which cames with the same configuration, but has a better processor, better screen, more ports, SD Reader. Unless you´re tight on the budget , I think you should get the M1 Pro MBP, which I think is a better machine.
What about the thermal issues?

This is where people struggle to understand that your average student or personal user doesn’t care about a “slower” ssd. Because its an ssd not a hdd. The M1 raised the bar so high that people are losing perspective on what qualifies as a bad thing.
Would I like all laptops to start off at 8gb? No i wouldn’t, but after owning a M1 mac mini for nearly 2 years and using it for pharmacy work and school I am shocked at how well it works.
People also don’t buy a new laptop every 1-2 years. They keep them for a while. You have to think about all markets not everyone uses a laptop to make a youtube channel folks.
