Looks like you are using a ton of swap on the 32gb model, if you are using 50 something gb of ram because it has it, then it means you are getting a lot of ssd use in place of ram, which is not great for the ssd, am I wrong?
That is honestly insane! Very impressive how Apple manages to make the performance so optimized with smaller amounts of ram. Nice video!
This is a gold comparison, nice job 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Get the 64gb if you can afford it. Remember SSD will swap if there isn’t enough RAM.
I got the 64GB version, partially because I do have certain (few) applications that could use so much ram (running my own codes simulating quantum physics, for research). But mostly because I plan to keep my laptop for a long time and 64GB will make it last longer for me. My current mac is from mid 2014 and has 16GB of ram. For daily stuff it’s mostly okay, but I often end up reaching its limit for various computations that I want to do on my laptop and not send to the supercomputing cluster. I think I would feel limited like that in a few years with 32GB on a new laptop.
In all fairness, this video does not really show the real workload. Video playback has nothing to do with RAM usage, it streams as it plays and has dedicated components for the decoding. Unreal engine runs a basic, textureless project, Xcode is merely opened… etc. etc.
RAM/unified memory testing would require loading a significant amount of textures and objects. RAM makes a difference where all the information is needed all at once for calculations. Buch of opened programs has little to do with it. Perhaps you can show it in the next video!
Great examples in the review! Yet, those considering longevity, 64gb will future-proof.
Hi, Thank you for your great videos! Does the M1 Max 24 Cores GPU 32 GB has the 400 GB bandwidth or this is reserved for the 64GB model ?
nice, but that how PC users are using computers for the last 2-3y. welcome to 2021 Apple.
I compared the 64GB vs 32GB on my channel too and I got the same results! Im a video editor and 3d artist, so my use case is a bit different but I got the same final opinion as you. Thanks for the video.
Sir you just saved me 400 EUR. Thank you! 😀😀😀
Chrome was enough for this test, not sure why you had everything else open.
They’re releasing an M2 next year?!
Try this Pro Audio test. Open No apps. Open Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol software in Rosetta 2. Scan all plugins. Halfway through the first scan, out of Memory error on M1 Mini with 16gb. Sigh.
M1 Pro with 32Gb and 2Tb SSD or M1 Max with 32 Gb and 1 Tb SSD for video editing? (they cost the same)
What browser should we be using then?
dude kinda looks like a mix between oscar isaac and taika waititi lol
I still can’t decide between M1 MAX with 32 Gigs and 1TB or M1 PRO 32 gigs and 1 TB. Help me people.
Hey, thank for this great and helpful video, can you do one about the battery life on a day / week as navigate on safari watching video one day and other day hard working, Also talk about the fast charge. That could be super helpful and a lot of people ask for it (Pro, designer, traders …) Lovely (New subscriber here (me) )
Hey!
I hope that you will see my comment and will give answer to me)).
I really need your advice)
So… My using case:
First. My mainly workflow is excel. Average volume of rows is 20000-25000 and columns is 40-50. And I’m really angry when my mba (2020 on intel. Chipset model) already lags when in file appears 50 rows…
Second. I like editing photos. May say that it’s my hobby)
Third. I would like to begin shortly learn to coding (python) for backend and maybe later begin learn a frontend coding))
So… idk which config mbp14 I need. I thought that I need m1 max with 24 GPU, 32 RAM, 1TB SSD. But… may be I’ll get enough power for my tasks if I choose M1 pro (10 cpu + 16 gpu), 32 ram, 1TB ssd?
