Would 64GB futureproof it for 5 years? Also, works the resale value go up proportionately with increased RAM?
Waiting for your developer review on M1 pro and M1 Max comparision
You are so underrated bro ,love your work , and i am waiting for New Imac m1 max with 64 gb .
could we also get a 32 vs 16? I’m using the intel i9 with 32 for logic and it murders my ram, but I heard it might be enough with just 16
My biggest question. Thank you
Omg this is the video I’ve been waiting for, nobody’s done this yet
And docker ?
What were the SSD sizes? I be curious how running 3x Windows 11 vm simultaneously on the 32GB would respond?
In case of RAM usage Difference (26gb and 53gb) – there can be 2 reasons. 1)SWAP usage – that kills SSD, but i do not think Apple will do such stupid thing for Native apps 2) Memory optimization – provide RAM only for current apps. We can see case 2 in your case. What about performance itself? I mean lags, usage feeling, speed inside of each software. (if you carefully watch whole Screen, you can see LAGS on applications those run on background, if you do not interact with them. For example during Unreal Engine usage, your Windows 11 shows lags when playing video). Buying and selling each year is a good idea only if you make a lot money directly on Mac. And even on than case, it is not economically good idea. The case is, not in all counties there are a Trade in stores for Apple. Better to use it at least for 4-5 years. Currently i have Powerful PC(12 cores, 64 Ram, RTX) and old 2016 December Macbook pro. What can i say, i can do any daily task faster on Mac, however if you start using SIM/EMU(performance should better on M1 Max) or something heavy on CPU (long term), i see the difference. Thanks!
I think the only way to crash and burn this is scaling a k8s cluster to 200+ workers for some strange reason or working with state of the art deep learning models and huge batch sizes like Pix2Pix HD or smth
Can you do a 16GB vs 32GB? Lots of chat on if it would be better to save £400, on the 16gb
The first real test to watch. Nice one 👌🏽
awsome video again… i have allready the problem i don´t know what i should buy because the RAM is working differntly on the M1 Macs.. i´m a composer & i use a lot of big Sample Libraries… it´s necessary to load all the samples into the Ram. 64 GB is not that much on a intel machine normally… this is definitley the way to test the RAM… I use Logic Pro x + Kontakt Player + a lot of sample libraries like spitfire, Cinematic studio brass, cinematic studio strings, strezov sampling & alot more…. but I think you can also test it with all the Stock Sounds from Logic (70GB of sounds)…. if that works with 32gb which normally only works with 64gb or even 128gb .. omg that would be the absolute game changer… you have no idea what that means to all composers who struggling with the RAM Problem….many big LA composers use slave computers to outsource the ram ..U could just download the complete Logic library (ca. 70GB) and save it on an extern T5 SSD or so. (because nobody has all that Sounds on the intern SSD), .than make a new projekt and use all the sounds somehow. so each piano… each drumset & so on……..man that would be the killer test… that would simply change everything if it works using 70Gb of sounds on the 32 GB RAM Macbook. i hope that works just with Logic Stock Sounds.. i just ordered the 14″ max just because of 64Gb Ram… if it works also with 32GB RAM without issues, i will send it back and go for the Pro 32GB Version… so much cheaper… cheers
Do you recommend 1 tb or 2 tb of storage? Im planning to buy a new one.
by the end of 90s with a desktop being able to open multiple office apps were cool. in 2020s we now can do this for serious creativity tools with a silent cool laptop.
It would be really interesting to see how all this runs on 16GB of RAM
Thanks for the video! Thinking that enabling ‘Real memory’ column would give exactly right info about RAM usage in Activity Monitor.
The M2 will not be out in pro or max versions next year. The MBP is not an iPhone.
Great to see.
Docker containers use tons of RAM and may be a worthy test.
in logic pro try sample based orchestra templates, plus AU plugins use convolution (sample based simulations) like acustica audio at 96k samplerate. this is what i want and since now i could not find anybody tried this, i will go for 64gb
