We’re you running PRO 32 or MAX 32??
Another great video, sir…thank you! I appreciate the real and honest comparisons and analysis. For my situation, the amount of memory I should get in my next Mac configuration has been on my mind…a lot. Given that it is shared memory, I need to factor in not only what the apps are using during my daily development workflow (which averages around 26GB), but also the video memory needed to drive my monitors (I use 1 5K and 2 4K monitors + plus an eGpu to reduce the processing load of the LG 5K Ultrafine). My 2018 15” 6-Core i9 32GB MacBook Pro with an eGpu is handling my workflow, but not by much and with constant heat and fan noise. Ultimately, I want a 64GB M1 Max Mac Mini or 27” iMac (I would replace my 5K monitor with it) for daily use and perhaps get a 14” M1 Pro for travel.
So do I need 32gb of ram and max or Can I get better battery life with the 16gb ram mbp 16. With m1 pro? Plan to run virtual machines and mobile simulator s
Dude I love your videos. The way you talk is just so dragging
Great to hear the 32GB is totally capable enough for all this. These chips are so impressive. Thanks for the video!
Cool video 🙂 Though, I wonder how much swap did they use with such workflow; less swap usage is kinda better for SSD longevity, if I understand correctly =) But yeah, “RAM-killing” tasks seem to be quite niche
Thanks, bro. I’ll buy M1 Max 32GB.
Thanks for sharing this video 👍👍👏👏👏
In what situation would you want/need 64 over 32?
I think after effect will destroyed. Cinema 4D renders were faster with 64GB. I saw it in other video
Heh, never mind 32 GB, I think you convinced me to just get the get the stock $2,699 midrange 16 GB M1 Pro for now instead of sinking in an extra $1,200 for the fully upgraded Max just to sit on a bunch of performance I might never use, when we all know that other MacBook Pros 3-4 years down the line will smoke the current M1 Maxes anyway. Thanks!
Thank you! Дякую! Arigato! Merci! Was waiting for it from you!
But finaly who were that 64GB produced for? I am inspired to start my Unreal experience as a beginner to create VR projects and very curious if I need this upgrade.
I didn’t think I needed 64GB, as I mostly run Adobe software, but this totally confmed it. THANKS! 👌
I bought the M1 Max with 64GB Ram, NOT because I need 64GB, but because I wanted the extra memory bandwidth, and I don’t want to ever use SWAP on my non-replaceable SSD. Maybe it isn’t warranted, and I don’t imagine I’ll need it, but at this price range, why not.
hi, can you make long range test?) Like open all this apps for a day or so, and take a look on memory usage and lags after:)
This is a review I’ve been looking for. I’m curious if your tests ramped up the cooling fans much at all? I’ve seen some Youtubers indicate the Max runs a bit hotter, the fans kick on sooner, than on the 16 Pro model. Your thoughts or experience so far?
Brutal
That’s insane! My 32GB RAM 14inch arrived today and during the wait, I was debating whether I should have gone 64GB. This video has buried that doubt. Thanks for the video!
Looks like the SSD on the MBP is insanely good, given that you are using so much swap memory for the 32gb and still didn’t notice any slow down, theres no reason that a 16gb ram would perform much worst. The the other youtuber Max have tested the 16gb vs 32gb came to similar conclusion too…
apple engineers really weren’t fucking around with these M1 chips.
feels exactly like the reaction we seen with the A7 iPhone chips going forward.
