Hi BrianDad – I connected my laptop via the usb-c port on the dock. I have 2 monitors plugged into the doc. Both monitors turn on but are mirrored. The mirrored setting is turned off but I can’t seem to extend the displays. So I have the laptop monitor and 2 other monitors mirroring each other. Can you please help me?

Please note the new 2020 Macbook Air and Macbook Pro with M1 chip currently won’t do Dual extended monitors via WD19TB, don’t think any thunderbolt works atm 20th Jan 2021. Will update as I find fix.

Hi,
Thank you for your video. I have a very similar setup but can’t seem to get the dual monitor going. The only difference is the adaptor you use to connect the 2nd monitor. In my case I purchased a thunderbolt to DP cable, which I can plug directly to the WD19TB. The Cable I’m using is a Comsol brand (https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-usb-c-to-displayport-8k-cable-1-5m-cocmdp015). What do you think might be the problem here? Also I’m on the latest MacOS, Big Sur.

I would like to share my experiences with the WD19TB and my Macbook Pro 15 2016 (4 Thunderbolt ports).
Since I’ve had three monitors for a while, I needed a dock because the connections were too few. For this reason I searched for a long time and at some point got stuck on the Dell D6000. So far, this has worked well except for the charging performance of my Macbook. Unfortunately, the D6000 only charges with a maximum of 60 watts, which often left my Battery empty over a hard day. It also got extremely hot and the “Display Link Monitor” software required extremely high resources.
So I searched further and came across the WD19TB, which according to forums and discussions on the net is not suitable for the Macbook and a triple monitor setup.
Nevertheless, I ordered the dock because I simply need at least 90W charging power.
Result: all three external screens (1x 4k 28 inch 60Hz, 1x WQHD 27 inch 120Hz, 1x 1080p 24 inch 60Hz) + the internal monitor of the Macbook work perfectly.
I plugged my 4k monitor into the display port connection on the dock, the 1080p via HDMI with an adapter (to USB C) into the Thunderbolt port on the dock. (where the cable goes to the notebook) I plugged the WQHD monitor directly into the Macbook via the display port on USB C so that I can use my 120Hz.

And now comes the important part!
You have to use the Thunderbolt port on the dock for one monitor. You can connect the other display to one of the other ports (HDMI or Display Port).
The Macbook Pro 15 has two Thunderbolt controllers. If you now connect the dock with the two monitors on one side and a monitor on the other side via the USB C port, you can use 3 monitors. I’m pretty sure this won’t work on a 13 inch Macbook. But on a 16 inch it should.

Got any response to several people below? So if have an M1 I and screwed for dual monitors forever and ever with the WD19TB? I don’t want to buy the d6000. Just got this 19 one and 2 -2k monitors. Fatal flaw Apple!!!!

BsianDad, I’ve come across your video as I’m looking for a docking solution to enable the connection of 2 Dell U2722D monitors to both my wife’s 2016 Macbook Pro (through a thunderbolt port) and my Dell Latitude 7400. I am just about settled on using the WD19TB as the docking station but need some clarity on the use of both laptops – not at the same time! Will this connection solution for the Macbook Pro (one monitor via DisplayPort and the other through the Thunderbolt port via the DisplayPort to USB-c adapter) which enables extended display also work equally as well when I have my Dell laptop docked?

Hi Bsian, thanks for the video. I have a question though: Will the same setup work with Dell WD19S?
BTW- I have two HP VH240a monitors and they have HDMI and VGA out. So I am using one HDMI to DP cable and for other I am using HDMI cable and HDMI-USB-C adaptor. So one monitor goes in DP and the other goes to thunderbolt on the dock.

Quick question, will a new 2021 macbook pro work with the dell dock WD19S? I’m only able to make a mirror image on the dual monitors, so I’m guessing that this dock isn’t supported by my macbook pro.

My MBP 14″ M1 Pro worked with my WD19TB out of the box (startup setup already via two external monitors). One connected via DP, the other one via TB3.
