Will the Dell WD19TB charge your MacBook Pro?
Will the dual monitor screens awaken with movement from a wireless mouse when connected to the dock? Or do you have to reopen the MacBook Pro every time?
i have a Dell Thunderbolt Dock – WD19TB and I am having issues getting 2 4k monitors to display at 4k. one will show 4k and the other in HD, both using the display ports on the dock. Any thoughts?
Thank you for your in depth review of those very important accessories almost nobody cares in YT 😉
Any chance to test this one on a PC laptop ?
I had the chance to use the D6000 (who has no TB3 port, just USB-C) with a 2018 XPS 15 and managed to connect 3 ext. monitors (one 4k + one 2.5k + one FHD) + the XPS internal 4k one by connecting one directly to the HDMI port. So in total 4 monitors with just a USB-C dock !
The only problem came from the software Displaylink as the monitors connected could not use the “night light” option included in W10 and it is a shame as I always use it by night.
And Dell customer Service confirmed me there will not be an update 🙁
As I maybe will buy a new XPS 15 with 2 TB3 + 1 USB-C, I could imagine connect again my 3 monitors but, in this case, by using the WD19TB in order to use all the W10 features 🙂
Hey, so I if have a MacBook Pro and just want to use one extra monitor, I can buy Dell Dock Station WD19TB and it will work on extended mode?
One MacBook and one monitor
Do not work with a new MacBook Air (13-inch, 2020) but it works with a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017)!! The new Mac do not communicate with a screen through the Thunderbolt port on the Dell WD19TB.
Hi. I am using a macbookpro with a DELL TB16. It just outputs to a single monitor. Will a DA300 connected to the thunderbolt port on the TB16 enable a second monitor output? Thanks for your videos
Good video mate, thank you for helping me with this choice in deciding which dock to get since the belkin one is so darn expensive and I’m tossing up between the WD19 and the Caldigit TS3+ (Macbook pro 16) and I just bought one! Thanks
Thank you! I ended up using the WD19TB and connected one of the monitors directly with hdmi to the dock and the other monitor is connected to the dock with a simple DisplayPort to ucb-c adapter (instead of the DA300) and it works perfectly
Hi BsianDad, I have a 2019 MacBook Pro, two Dell QHD monitors, the WD19TB dock and the DA300. I have the MacBook connected via Thunderbolt to the dock. One of the monitors is connected to the DP port on the dock. I connected the DA300 to the Thunderbolt 3 port on the dock (not the USB-C Multifunction DisplayPort) and then Display Port to the monitor. The problem is whichever monitor is connected through the DA300 only has a 1080p resolution. The one connected directly to the DP port has QHD resolution. I’ve switched the monitors between the two ports to be sure it isn’t a cable/monitor problem. But when I connect the DA300 straight in to a Thunderbolt port on the MacBook it get QHD resolution on both screens. This is a workaround but also a bit of a pain. Any ideas?
So i tired to connect my Macbook Pro 2020 via the Dell WD19TB on a dual monitor set up – however I only got 1 screen active via HDMI; for the 2nd Screen I was using a HDMI to Minidisplay further connected with a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 apple adaptor directly to the thunderbolt port behind the dock – however, No display on the second screen; I will retry this is a HDMI to UsbC cable as well maybe that will work? any inputs?
You don’t have to buy another expensive dock just to connect a display. I have 2×27″ 4k displays running on a 2018 MacBook Pro 13″ at full resolution without any problems. One is connected to the WD19TB’s DisplayPort output. Another one connects to WD19TB’s Thunderbolt jack on the back, using an active Thunderbolt 3 to DisplayPort adapter. Just plug the cables and you’re good to go.
Hey thanks for the video! Do you know how do I connect Macbook Air which only has a thunderbolt socket no type C?
I have connected a WD19TB to my macbook pro 2020 model. The screen works fine. However there is no sound on the speaker connected to the docking station. any tips to make it work ?
Hi! wich one do you recomend me to a macbook pro 2017,
Dell D6000 or the WD19??
thanks
I just hooked up my second monitor using the thunderbolt on the back of my dell docking station and it didn’t work. I have a MacBook Pro 2020. What am I doing wrong?
Hi BsainDad!! Do you know if WD19TB works with DELL G5 5590? Can you guide about this scenario? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone tried this model with an iMac 2019? Or any other Mac with Catalina?
⚡️ WOW. Voodoo! I think I was grinning more than him! So, to confirm:
1) monitor via HDMI –> WD19TB.
2) monitor via DP –> DA300 via usb-c –> WD19TB.
correct??
lastly, wanted to confirm a few more things:
3) Did the laptop fan go on at any point?? have you tried this config for extended periods of time??
4) Did the dock heat up at any point?
Also glad to hear from some comments that 3rd party adapters have worked.
Can you test line-out port on the back? It is not working for me. Am using MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports).
Hey Bsian. Nice review. Clear and to the point. I got a question though. I have a Macbook Pro 2017(touch bar) and I have three external monitors that I want it connected to while I close my Macbook lid. Frankly, I don’t see the point of all those ports if I can only use one of them 😄. So I was wondering if you could tell me how I get to use all three monitors. They’re all HD monitors with HDMI/Display ports. Thanks
