Can’t wait. Upgrading from 2016 MacBook Pro w Touch Bar (had so many issues Inc thr cable inside the lid snapping due to opening/closing too many times which meant I had to have Apple replace it, keyboard issues and it gets incredibly hot really quick, to the point when I charge it I place it upside down to let the heat escape and not possibly burn my bed)
I know the RAM is 16GB standard (compared to 8GB w the 2016, which is now been made vintage by Apple this yr) but do I need to upgrade to 32GB? I know 512GB is standard space (256GB on th 2016 TB), but want to upgrade to 1TB as in the grand scheme of things not too much. But I know I wouldn’t be able to afford both 32GB RAM and 1TB space. Would mostly be for uni work (am going through disabled Student’s Allowance so may be some specialist software too – they could potentially also part reimburse me for the laptop but I havent had an assessment to see what they pay for yet) but since I don’t have to give the device back, I want to use it for my hobby which is photography.
Not huge proper editing, more like putting in LR cloud and applying and tweaking presets. And scanning my entire analogue photo collection (which would then go on an external hard drive along w my digital photos, or maybe on the computer if I had 1TB).
I dont really game, so photo editing would be the extent of heavy stuff (plus I have ADHD so get distracted and have hundreds of tabs open at a time but getting better at that). Should I upgrade the RAM or just get 1TB? I’m not planning on any of the other upgrades

Love the review. I’m heading out to pick mine up and you convinced me that the 14″ is the way to go. But please don’t refer to a computer as an investment. Anything with a depreciation cannot be an investment. It will always be an expense.

Hi Dion! Thank you for great video and walkthrough. I have a stationary iMac 24 (2017) that works great, and I want to invest in a new laptop since I have started working as a freelancer; photography and music.

Would you still recommend the M1 MacBook Pro 14 as of October 11. 2022, or has it become «outdated»?

Do you know these assholes have been soldering the SSD onto the motherboard since 2016 ? So if it breaks they ll charge you a hefty sum cause they give you a new motherboard which will be in fact a new fucking computer ? Instead of just replacing the ssd ? Plus they charge 3x – 4x the price of a normal .. say … samsung ssd ( which is replaceable ) … kurwa apple !!!

How do you feel in regards to the silver chassi being too reflective and distracting? I tried it out at the apple store and had a really hard time with the brightness of the chassi drawing too much attention from the screen, while switching to the space gray made me feel a lot more calm and focused.
It might be the intense lightning in the store though. I don’t remember if being that bad on my previous silver MacBooks.
Would love the silver one for aesthetics and durability, but I’m a bit concerned in terms of productivity.
