I own the Apple TV 2021, the Nvidia Shield, the Roku Ultra, and the Google Chromecast…the Apple TV is by far the best overall. The Apple TV outputs Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos better than any streaming box. Apple Music plays lossless music and it sounds like you are in a music studio on the Sonos Arc. Gaming is fast and smooth. You can also view your photo gallery on your TV so you can see your personal pics and videos on a big screen. Bottomline…it’s the complete package and the best user experience.
Bought two 2021 versions last year. Not upgrading again. Way to soon.
Thanks for clearing it all up! Good review.
Nice video. Would you use it in place of LG’s WebOS?
Shield Pro been doin me pretty good since like 2017! I am intrigued by the Apple TV though
One thing that doesn’t make sense to me is, what’s the point of having HDR10+ or Dolby Vision of your tv doesn’t support those standards? If your TV does support those standards, then why would you need the new ATV? Am I missing something here?
Ordered it just because I have a Samsung QN90A, going to hook my old one up to my Vizio
Great Video! What is the best TV for the Apple TV 4k?
Recently got a new tv and I’m picking this up so that I can set up a pair of OG HomePods to use with eArc for sound. Bass is 🤤
Hopefully they bring back an updated jumbo homepod soon.
Caleb you are so funny!
I’m picking it up in the hopes that this version works better with Hue Sync products because the black screen dropouts are unacceptable and don’t happen with the Roku 4K Stick that now has Dolby Vision so I’m hoping that this one fixes those well documented issues
Unless Nvidia pulls something out of their screws, this is now hands down, the best streaming device.
No TrueHD Atmos or DTS-X. Yeah I’ll keep my Shield TV Pro.
I’ve used an Apple TV since the first iterations (the white boxes) that used old-school hard drives. Now have an old HD hooked up to our gaming TV (an older 4K LG), a 2nd gen 4K on our TCL 6 series, and another 2nd gen on our AWOL UST. I’ve also always bought them on sale as, yes, they’ve always been more than a bit overpriced. But they also just work. And I like the consistent UI between TVs. Will I upgrade to the new one? Probably. At least for the projector as it supports HDR10+. Then that 4K can migrate to the LG.
I’m a huge chromecast fan, but the CC cannot correctly force correct refresh rates if you have a TCL tv. The Apple TV CAN. AND it has dual headphone support which is HUGE for us parents with very young children. Wife and I can enjoy movies to the full.
Im here to drop a like, nice video Caleb.!!
Just found the channel and I’m really liking it. I noticed that you only have access to iTunes Extras if you own the physical box. If you access your movies through the Apple TV app on smart tvs you’ll lose that access.
A niche problem. I know buying your media is a fading trend but if you have a big library of titles I’d want to have full access.
Great review, but charging an extra $20 for an ethernet port is crazy
So how was the video play? Also people are always trying to speculate what Apple will do. So Game Play and storage expectations are just that. Remember what happened with the iPad and M1 chip and if you bought a Terabyte storage you got 16 gigs of memory…. which led to nothing but our wallets getting lighter and Apple Getting Richer.
You’re a C O M E D I A N! Serious… give up the gadgets and go on tour or bring back SNL to 1975! 🎉
