The battery comparison is flawed, if you have been using the old system during the year then the battery is degraded, it will always perform worse than a brand new product.

Great review! Really interested to see some of the performance improvements in games, particularly CPU-intensive games like Cities: Skyline.

Btw, easiest way to check if an app is Intel/Universal/Apple Silicon is checking the Finder. Second click and ‘Get Info’ (or Cmd+I).

I think it would be more interesting comparison of the same $1,600 xps against the new MacBook Air at $999…which I would imagine is pretty close in performance to the MacBook Pro

Some people shit on Intel too much but this is the end of x86 architecture, both AMD and Intel alike. Soon ARM architectures will take over everything.

I understand the excitement, but…
considering we’re comparing a 5nm processor against a 14nm one … performance doesn’t seem to be that impressive if you ask me.
Ok, they’ve built something capable to compete… But starting with a 5nm chip and then comparing it to desktop counterparts which have bigger transistor sizes is somewhat unfair. Also, the RAM being integrated in the SoC doesn’t seem an appealing solution. Certainly not something you can call “pro” lightly.
