16 GB MBA or base MBP?? If anyone reading this, please tell me your opinion. Im gonna use it for simple tasks but who knows maybe two years later I will want to do video editing.

Best Review. Thanks for covering the gaming part. Didn’t knew how game emulation worked for mac. I have used windows all my life and now if I even consider jumping to mac. Emulation and virtualization keeps me away since my classic games from early 90s-2010 won’t work on Mac. And now you can afford or enjoy these games on windows, I don’t want to leave my Surface. Still gets the work done too. So why would I switch

In three years we will have ALL of our computing tasks (whether you are a Pro or a Schmo) on your M3 “iphone” (carried in your pocket) with the Display (and periphs) handed-off to your 4 or 8k monitor or TV upon arrival at the home or office….. in 5 years you’ll have all the same capability on your Apple Watch and Apple Glasses using the M5 SOC…… If you think this is Sci-Fi just watch a YT video of the SpaceX Falcon rocket sticking the landing…. the future of “real” computing is here and Apple has stuck the landing!

You really should do Ryzen 4000 series laptop Vs. M1. Then we will know the real performance of M1. Intel chips are really not the top of the line anymore.

A few commentators are suggesting waiting for the M2 with more RAM etc…. Nope…. get the M1 Mac Mini now….use it for a year or longer, get the M2 version when it arrives and give the M1 to a friend or family member……

Is 8gb good enough? I’m wondering if it’s smart to have a Windows Pc and a Mac laptop. I do photography so I’d need a hard drive that can be used on both same with Lightroom/photoshop

That 13 inch MacBook Pro you have is NOT the one this new M1 is going to substitute!! This M1 substitutes then “low end” MacBook Pro, the one that has only two usb-c ports, you have the “high end” MacBook Pro, the one with 4 ports!

Is it worth to go with the base model of MacBook Pro – Apple M1 Chip – 8GB RAM & 256GB SSD. I am not that heavy laptop users and don’t perform multi-task. The only heavy application I might use is Adobe Lightroom for photo edit. Other than that, its regular web browsing, watching YouTube videos, checking emails.

It’s crazy that Apple still makes 8 GB of Ram the default for MacBook Pro! It might be ok on the Air, definitely not on the pro, not even the pro “base”/”low end” -the one with 2 USB ports-
