hello, can someone tell me what the difference is between the 2.9 processor and the 3.1 processor? I just wanna know of there is any noticeable speed or processor intensive task differeneces. thanks in advance 🙂

Looks like I’ll be getting one of these as a replacement from Apple. My maxed out 2016 TB started popping when warm and the lid started clicking on opening after two months of use. Two trips to Apple revealed the issues to be seemingly unsolvable despite a new screen, transmitter and venting system and indeed they actually managed to introduce other problems. By the end, there was little of my original Mac left, but I did have an oily keyboard from other people using it, spittle spots on the casing, a very smudged screen, a hair trapped in the body and obvious signs that the machine had been hauled round a desk. At one point they even phoned up and asked me for my password so they could access the machine! Just wow. I’ve had to travel 300 miles to resolve this too. To tell the truth I’m not looking forward to the replacement. I don’t have a lot of faith in the design any more 🙁

With both Coffee Lake & Cannonlake processors being just around the corner, do you think Apple will again refresh the MacBook Pro in October/November 2017, or will they wait until February/March 2018?

I’m holding off until the next refresh cycle because the updates are worth the wait for those of us who want a reasonably future-proof laptop. The new processors will reportedly support:

– Up to 6 USB 3.1 ports
– 802.11 ad Wi-Fi
– Bluetooth 5?
– 32 GB DDR4 RAM
– Potentially improved battery life, especially if Apple goes with the smaller, 10nm Cannonlake

Do you think these 5 updates are likely in the next MacBook Pros?

PS – I would also absolutely love to see:

– 1080p FaceTime Camera! The current one has been around since February 2011, and we already know the iMac Pro will get a 1080p camera
– More color options – Matte Black on a MacBook Pro? Yes please!
– 4K display

Thoughts on these points, Mike?

I’m torn. It’s either a fully loaded 15″ MacBook pro or a 27″ iMac nearly maxed out with the exception of RAM which i would upgrade myself.

I like the idea of going with the laptop for portability and getting a nice screen for desktop use but I think the iMac is the better choice in terms of GPU performance and so on.

hey man for the 15″, do you think its worth upgrading from 2.9GHz to 3.1GHz? Bear in mind from where I am its $252 more to upgrade on an already $3688 laptop with the student discount. I will be using it for Architecture software as I will be studying Architecture in University and I also will be using Logic Pro X cause I produce music. Hope you could give some input! I held off from getting a macbook in 2016 in hopes that this 2017 would be much better.

hey DetroitBORG great video i just want to ask you something !! i heard that macbook pro 2016 with touchbar had an battery issues !! then i watched your video and i know this is new macbook pro 2017 my question is did apple improve the battery issues ? does this laptop also has battery issues ?
