Here is my dilemma in todays world and for long-term longevity/durability I don’t know which MacBook version to buy between the 14” MBP M1 256 for $1600 or the low end spec’d MacBook Air for $800. I am a late 30/male/college student/going into nursing graduate program.I need to upgrade my 2013 MacBook Air. What do you think?

I was about to buy the M2 because I though it was more powerful but no, the M1 PRO is more powerful than the M2, how is this even?

Already paid off my M2 midnight & I just gotta say I love it! I’m not a heavy user so it’s perfect. The finger print doesn’t bother me as much but I just hope it wasn’t a thing with the midnight since I really love the dark colour. Speed is amazing & works smoothly as it should

Seeing some actual real world speed comparisons would have been nice, but your saying how the M1-Proand M1-Max are _really_ different led me to check them out. I found that they are better but it’s not an insane difference. So from what you’ve said, the M2 as such isn’t really much different than the M1. It’s just style stuff in the MacBook Air. So now I can comfortably keep the M1 Mac Mini I just ordered and not hang in there until the M2 Mac Mini comes out. I heard the M2 Mac Mini was going to be thinner … I can live without that.

Bought an M1 Pro 16″ few month ago and It just never on par with my ROG DUO.I do 3D archviz rendering / animation which need more powerful machine that support Ray Tracing, DLSS technology. This M1 only come with Radeon. Limited Unreal Engine function, no Lumion render, no D5 render. The only good thing about M1, sleek design and silent. Comparing both of my laptop just like an electric car ( M1 Pro ) vs Skyline GTR ( ROG DUO ). Or in another words.. g@y vs beast. LOL.

I know people don’t seem to notice it day to day but I cannot get over the notch, feel like it completely distracts from what is otherwise a great looking laptop

1. Buy M1 and upgrade it to 16 GB ram + 512 SSD which reaches M2 base price?
2. Buy M2 no need of upgrade specs?
3. Buy M2 and upgrade it which make the cost reach MBP price?

Answer this. Considering someone who doesn’t think of upgrading to next mac in near future.
