Between the M1 MBA and MBP this year, i’d go with the MBA.

If I go for MBP, i might as well just wait till next year for its inevitable M1X chip.

I actually returned my standard 512GB M1 Macbook Air……

So that i can order a 16GB 7-core 512GB a.k.a. a better one

I’m frustrated, I bought the 8 core 16g/512g M1 MBA about one week ago. I found sth weird that after two hours of video watching on YouTube, there’s a black bar appears on the right corner of the screen and it lasts for couple seconds then disappeared ….I’m definitely returning my current unit but I have not decided whether to exchange it for another MBA unit or just return it…..ahhhh whyyyyyyy! The quality control should be better!

Comes with 3 USB 3.2 gen 1 and 1 USB-C 3.2, SD Card reader, HDMI 2.0, and headphone/mic jack.
CPU can be upgraded to a 4700H (8 core 16 threads, max 4.20 ghz) for +$70.

Considering you only get 8gb ram, 256 gb SSD for $1k on MBA with no GPU, and only 2 USB-c it’s not really that great of a deal.
Only reason to get a MBA is if you absolutely Need that more than 5.5 hour battery life or mac specific programs.
Still, I am loving the huge splash M1 chip is making and I look forward to seeing some rapid ARM developments coming from Apple and AMD. We’ll see if Intel will ever get their heads out of 14 nm.

“How many of us, tech youtubers were wrong”… this is why I like this channel. You are not afraid to make mistakes and explain them to your subscribers, so that they can spend wisely for their hard earned cash. My “tactic” for a new machine like the M1 Air, is to buy the cheapest base model, and if next year the 14 inch came out with a much better performance, I can easily sell the Air at a good price. From my experience, it is easy to sell a used Macbook Air than Pro especially the base model. And don’t spec up the RAM if you are planning to sell it because the drop in used price not worth it. Don’t know about you, but i never get the logic in bumping the extra RAM for a “base model” laptop especially fanless laptop. I mean, how far can it really go or improve? When you buy a base model laptop, you know your work load and what you are going to do with it. People shouldn’t buy a base model, fanless laptop to edit 10 bit 4K videos day in, day out, and complaining if that base model is not up to their “standard”. You should wait for the 16 inch M1 for that.

im not a casual user, the only thing im worried is the fan (i use my laptop 6/8 hours a day). I work as a developer and a music producer (not logic), so im still thinking of pro. Best reviews ever anyway, greetings from italy!

Wonder which color should I pick. Gold color is nice but very few if any matching cases out there. Space grey is futuristic but kinda boring now.
