I checked the UPS website on 12-10-20 and it indicates that the M1 MBA I ordered is facing a shipping delay in Shanghai, China. My hands are tied right now, but I admit my concerns are going to increase daily. If that status remains the same 7-10 days from now, I will cancel and then try to purchase the base model that I can carry out of an Apple store. Back in March, I purchased something off eBay that shipped from China … it took 4 months to receive that item but I just will not wait anywhere near that long again. It is enormously frustrating especially when waiting for something that you really want.

about the plugged-in thing, that’s actually dependent on your power settings. if you head over to system cooling policy, you can change those and it’ll give the same performance.

I have a 2015 Macbook Air and it’s struggling with the 8GB RAM (I only use it for university, so programs like word, adobe and SPSS). I was gonna get the 16GB RAM version, but your video made me doubt if that’s even necessary. 🙂

did you try a proxy generation from a 4K proRes 4:2:2 ? it seems, it reaches 100degC in a minute and do not throttle at all and keep its 100degC :/
