The future M1 16inch MacBook Pro is going to be a BEAST. The fact that Apple has about doubled the performance but kept it at the same price is really impressive. With the new M1 chip I think many people would switch from windows to mac especially if they had an iphone.
Apples cooling sucked? Idiot.
Can it be repaired?
I want a model with 17″ 4:5 monitor without glare like in the good old G4 times. I work in IT, not entertainment.
The one use case where the sightly higher performance of the pro vs. the air can matter is for music production. I use bitwig studio and it pegs the CPU pretty much all the time. But I’m NOT complaining: I still can’t hear the fan and though the pro gets warm, it’s still not as hot as my 2017 i7 13″ pro. The performance is amazing and makes me much less frustrated and more productive. And this is with bitwig being translated by Rosetta! When the native version is available and most of my plugins are native, I should be even happier. I’ll just wave goodbye nostalgically to any plugins that I can’t use with the M1 (I already did with my Native Instruments stuff). My Bluetooth mouse seems to stutter sometimes with the new pro, but I can break down and buy an apple mouse if necessary. All in all, Apple really nailed it this time. Rosetta means everyone can have a good experience. And I agree: the Air is an incredible blend of great features and attributes.
I absolutely love my M1 MBP, and it’s only the first M-series laptop I will buy. Once the ‘performance’ versions release, I’ll be getting a 16” to replace my work laptop (2018 15” i7) which this one runs absolute circles around. 3 times faster in most tasks I’ve tested.
what about performance over years (3/4/5)? would the Pro age better?
Great video as usual. I used your videos to make my decision. I’m in pharmacy school and only need a laptop for school to go with my iPad. I got the base model Intel Pro model with 16 GB of ram and kept getting too hot, especially around the area on the keyboard and wrist resting area, so I returned it and got the 1800 model, after that the battery kept getting drained and still got warm even though not as hot. Then I got the Macbook air M1, and it is amazing just like you said. The battery is amazing I charge it about every 2 days, and it barely ever gets warm even with charging while using and it is very fast and efficient. Finally, some new real innovation from Apple
I’ve got to say these new M1 Macs do seem to be very good and enticing. For me though, I just switched to Linux personally, but I like the Macs as well.
I ditched my MacBook Air (intel) 2020 for this model. God those fans were just so annoying.
Should I get the m1 mac air or mac pro
waiting for mine to ship 🤠
Love this video because gave summary right at the beginning 🙂
Well, your review pushed me over the edge. My new M1 MacBook Air should be here by Jan 18. Thanks, love all your videos and the high level of quality each one exhibits👍
I got a quite different experience. I bought the base model Mac Pro m1, however the Lightroom classic is running quite slow. I do mostly raw photo editing and lots of spot removal. The fan turns on here and there, and doesn’t matter if the fan is on or off, the computer gets slow and glitchy easily.
Great delivery bro ! This was a pure seller!
I don’t think pc people will be able to hate macs in the future…HELLO M1
Thank you for the review. I just got my first ever Apple product: the M1 Air. I was extremely worried especially because it’s just 256ssd. This helps a lot. Thanks again.:)
Wish I have 15 inch MacBook Air
I’m contemplating between the new iPad Air or the MacBook Air M1. Any advise I can take from anyone?
