I am very much the complete opposite of an early adopter, but, having persevered with my Mid-2010 polycarbonate MacBook until recently (to be fair, it still works well enough for web browsing and light office tasks), I couldn’t resist getting a base-model M1 MacBook Air. Picked it up just a few days ago. Will I still be using it in 10 years? Only time will tell but for now it feels incredible. The battery life is insane, the screen, keyboard, trackpack all fantastic and the processor – well, let’s just say you don’t notice the processor. Very quickly you cease to think about the processor because it’s just doing everything you ask of it and it therefore becomes invisible in every day use. Isn’t that how tech should be? I think so.

Maybe this is the approach apple took from the iPhone 12 lineup, whereby making the ‘default’ iPhone 12 is already good enough for most people and just skip the iPhone 12 pro..The default M1 MBA is already good enough for most people (finally) rather than picking up the M1 MBP..They just focusing on these sales and make the ‘default’ iPhone 12 and M1 MBA the most popular apple product of the year..If you are truly a power user then you should opted for the M1X in higher end 13’MBP and 16’MBP same with if you the greatest iPhone you should probably buy the iPhone 12 Pro Max..Thus making the 13’MBP and iPhone 12 pro on a middle child syndrome

Received my M1 Air with 8 core today. Quite a step up from my 2011 MBA. I’m really impressed with the sound quality.

Your video just came at the right moment. Was considering the MBP but now I just stick with my MBA order. I opted for 16GB RAM and 1TB Storage though. Maybea bit more future proof and I don’t want to carry an external SSD while travelling. Keep on going! Your reviews are always really helpful!!!

Sustained load is what every piece of audio software creates. If I run a plugin rich session in pro tools or logic, those plugins are basically processing all the time; even if the software has a dynamic processing mode. The air isn’t all that useful in that scenario, especially for the small difference in price to the pro.

The M1 Macbook Air may be the best laptop Apple has ever made because it is the culmination of 10 years of chip design and case design coming together in one product. I had a 2015 Macbook that I still have and is super nice machine, but the speed and the slightly smaller size is a bit of a compromise that this machine does not have.
