I wanted to order the 15 retina with your link. yesterday I still had the 6% off but I was in a rush, now I checked it and it doesn’t give the 6% off. what is going on with this?!
I like how you referenced cheap non-Apple external DVD drives when doing so is favorable to the Retina MBP 13, but you must’ve “forgot” about those cheaper options when talking about the RMBP13’s 128SSD and 8GB of RAM. The Apple’s upgrade price you showed was $300 for the 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. Truth is, these two things cost about $110 ($75 for SSD, $35 for RAM). I liked your videos until now I see how biased you are. Cya.
due to the lack of dedicated graphics, you should either spend the extra $400 and buy the 15″ which has a quad-core I7, 8GB of ram, a 256GB SSD, and most importantly the 650M. if you don’t need the 15″, i would sugest buying the 13″ macbook air, as it has a high res screen (better than the original 13″ pro) and its lighter and $500 cheaper. by the way, i have owned all of these products, and the 15″ was by far the best. save your money. dont buy a 13″ retina.
You’re an idiot. He’s a tech reviewer, if you don’t like his videos than dont watch them. Also, the 13″ retina also has a retina display. you dont pay for the ram and ssd, those are really cheap compared to the price of the computer. you pay for the nice looking screen. although, i agree that the 13″ retina sucks compared to the 15″ retina, but thats really up to the consumer, not TLD.
plus, not everybody knows how to install the memory and ssd themselves. for someone who doesn’t know much about upgrading computers, they would pay the extra $200 and let the professional’s install it for them.
I’m watching this on my 15′ Macbook Pro with retina display. Glad i bought the 15 inch version. =)
Idiot, OS is part of the computer right? after paying so much that camera doesn’t even allow us users to modify settings which even a small priced laptop would do. Now if at all an idiot like you is working at apple, I understand why they come up with such defects.
15inch is alot better. The price of this 13 inch is too high and you get half the amount of SSD!
So it can render the image at an insane resolution and scale it down to show more real estate?
The part of the vid where you show us you editing the 1080p vid, is that at 2560×1600?
woah, still confusing as hell im off to re-read the anadtech article to see if I can understand this resolution magic stuff lol
Does rendering the image at 2x the res make it better? its still scaling it down to look like 1680×1050 right?
and is 1680×1050 the highest option? theres no native 2560×1600? I’m guessing no just like on the 15″ theres no native 2880×1800 option seeing as text would look like ant text lol
you cant buy a seperate SSD and RAM for this one since its allo soldered onto the motherboard thats probably why he didnt suggest it, he has suggested SSDs for the normal MBPs…. he has a whole video series of him installing Corsair RAM and OCZ SSD into a MBP
Very clear and to-the-point review. Good job
i want to c a 15 inch macbook air
I’m waiting 17 inch retina MBP
do you realise the dropped that?
. . .but is it over 9000??
Thanks for the advice! 🙂
I think I might wait for the retina mac book air or buy the 15′ mac book pro cause the 13′ is way overpriced for his specs
I love my 2.7GHZ 15in. Retina. It runs flawless.
I was at the local Apple store and the 15″ retina is incredible! Even the text at the menu bar on top has NO visible pixels like it would on any other Mac! But i just got a late 2011 13″ MBP in February so I really have no need for a new one even though the AIr is growing on me.
