I like the colab of your discussion but I also feel there should have been more arguments. There are a ton more phones than Samsung and Android. Huawei, xiaomi, Vivo, Sony, pixel and oneplus bring something new to the table. Androids open-source nature provides the path towards innovation iphone lacks. The modding community brought so many changes most users would never know about(flashlight feature, themes, bloatware removal, overclocking and undervolting, and mobile Hotspot to name a few.

Superamoled screens look brighter and more vivid as to Huawei.

You didn’t add a lot of positive points for Android either when clear winners in categories were for the green team.

Also never had a photo not save, ever.

Neither of the phones deserve a point for eco. They took everything out of the box forcing people to buy a new charger/wire/headphones, which each come in their own boxes. So the phones have made it worse, but padded their own pockets at the same time!

Android have better screen, better feature and apps like tasker ,emulation, yt vanced ,torrent, launcher,modded apps , so much stuffs that makes it better and these biased apple fanboys cant clearly see that.

As an environmental consultant I must say that the most eco friendly product is the one that last the most and the one that can be used for more people before It’s discarded or recycled… so , considering the updates span , the iPhone is still the winner here, I hope it doesn’t changes with iOS 16 and 17

Here’s my take on it, If your gonna compare android and IOS/ iphones. They should have stick to flagships on the same price bracket on the android side cuz if you generalize android including mid range and budget ones, we all know it’s not gonna be good for the android side. Its just like what mkbhd said “rog phone 5 at 60hz has better battery life but it’s the only one phone in the sea of androids.”

Regarding eco-consciousness I think a point to be considered is how long people usually keep their phones, and if they are recycled more. I’d say iPhone users typically keep their phones for longer given the high price point and longevity. I don’t know if Android phones have an active trade-in program but Apple does and recycles parts from old phones. I think these also contribute to their eco-concsious score.

For recycling, you missed that Apple has a device that can deconstruct any phone and separate out all it’s pieces for recycling. The machine does this in 20-30 seconds, and works for any Apple Phone/iTouch device. That’s a big deal.

Annoying answer, but it depends the person really. Apple is kinder to a more passive user, but restricts some
Customisation. It may be simpler (in some ways) but in comparison to thinks like Microsoft Bob back in the day it still takes some brainpower. Android is more for a user that really takes time with there phone, wants to customise or just generally wants android. Android also takes the basis of can go with anything – cheap phones, expensive phones and the like. iOS and apple, exclusive – you gotta go for it or go home.
