But then proceeds to make their phones even more difficult to repair by continuing to serialize more parts of the phone. So even the simplistic issues now requires them to be the ones who look at the phone so they can just tell you to buy another one. Then toss yours in the trash. And if you don’t send it to them, they just disable key parts of the phone.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a way to disable the back cameras if you replace the back glass next generation…

If you really have to scratch the cameras to test the glass, why not scratch near the edges? At least then you can give away the phone (after a hopefully successful teardown) to a friend and the photos won’t be completely useless. Kind of irks me a bit, it seems like such a waste to do this. Everything else done to the phone is mostly cosmetic.

My dad replaces his iPhone every year cause he can get the new pro for $300 after trading last years model in. It’s cheaper then replacing it every 3 years
