If I have Samsung T7 external SSD’s that transfer at 1000mb/s, regardless of if I get a base MBA M1 (with a read/write I’d say 2000mb/s) or a base MBA M2 (with a read/write is 1500mb/s) I’m still only going to get a transfer speed of the T7 at 1000mb/s, correct?

So the whole MBA M2 SSD read/write issue is redundant in that specific use case?

Your comparisons are not consistent , you should try to keep the configurations the same first in oder to have a base and then compare the variations

I know this video is for photography but no one is aswering to my comments so im gonna try here. For video editing and blender should i get a mba m2 16go/512 ssd or mbp m1 ? I usually edit 4k on premiere pro and after effect, im learning blender for school (so it’s not professional yet). Im more looking for after effect and premiere pro. I can afford both of them but i don’t don’t know if i should choose the recent one or the m1 for editing

m1 max with gpu export ? workflow/lag ( press next photo) is more important then preview / export.

i can sleep when genereting preview, i can sleep when export, when apply presets and press next photo and de lag of ms you can sleep ? workflow browsing raws is the most important test

Great video once again, lot’s of information and no drama. Apple really needs to cut the costs on upgrades or atleast start the base airs a little higher speced. Atleast with storage so it’s an easier decision and still keeps these things at a value without getting close to the pro machines… anyways just a little gripe! awesome!!! EXACTLY what I am looking for! I was curious that what is the GAP between the basic spec of m1 pro 14 and upgraded m2 pro 13(16g, 512g). for I am seriously consider the latter. the most professional & persuasive comparisons I have found!

The best Mac reviews on the web! Wish there was some more commentary about day to day work like Office, PowerPoint, Excel, running many cloud apps at the same time. Would make the reviews useful for even more people.

Very much liked these video benchmarks. Its one of the few videos that shows how the extra memory will effect heavy processing.

Am curious how someone does all these test on all these different computers. Like do you buy them, do all the test, then return them all to Apple? I wonder if people are doing this for these type of videos and if so, how much it raises the prices.

Hello! Im torn between getting a base model 14MBP or customized M2 Air 24gb ram + 512ssd. I am originally planning to get the M2 Air 16gb ram with 512ssd but now im thinking of maxing out the ram since i do lots of graphic design work. I have the base model macbook pro 2016 and my issue is sometimes I cant export my animation from photoshop bec it says no more space (im assuming ram). Now that I want to upgrade, im really torn between m2 air and 14inch base model pro. I want air for the weight, color and price point. However, if I plan to max out the ram, it’s the same price as the macbook pro.

I am really keen to understand whether app optimisation has been resolved for the M2 since these tests were run, and if so whether the performance gap has closed even more as a result. Is there any information you might be able to share on that particular aspect of the M2A/24/512 vs M1P/16/512?
