Damn.. i just love your authentic, no bullshit reviews, and I am not alone💫
I just got a new Chrome computer (Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 $400 on Prime Day) as all the software I use for work is basically SAAS and on the cloud. 4GB seems to work fine for that stuff. Using my work software (OctopusPro), CAD work with Onshape, Netflix and Youtube all run fine and battery life is amazing. I’ve basically got a much less powerful computer but use software that doesn’t need amazing power anymore. This MacBook seems good but with no touchscreen/pen, it seems a bit out of date. The design looks good though.
Love the dbz shirt
Pay $200 more for a slower SSD (which means slower virtual memory) and the notch? No thanks. I’d much rather have the M1 Air.
256GB SSD is way too small for anyone, and a 512GB hard drive with only 8GB of RAM will cost run you $1500. That is way too much for this thing.. Especially considering how slow the base 256GB model is. I think people should stay away from this thing a get the base M1 Model at under $900, or pay a little more and get the base M1 MacBook Pro with a 512GB SSD AND 16GB RAM. Both are far better values.
If you get the 67W charger you lose Magsafe!??? There was no mention of this on their website!
Would anyone happen to know whether the macbook air is appropriate for post-grad research students? I need to use programs like IBM SPSS Statistics and it would be devastating if the macbook air struggled with it. The program isn’t very optimised from what I’ve experienced.
Buying a M1 based MacBook Air still makes a terrific sense if you are on a budget, and M2 is sweeter, BUT I have experienced slower SSD speeds in some benchmarks specially if using the lowest specked MacBook Air m2 over m1 with similar specs, keep that in mind, get one with higher storage to not fall into that deficiency. IMO we should stop comparing dell’s and Lenovo’s or anything with intel/amd for now with apple because they are not comparable at all for last 2 years and won’t be for a couple of more years at least.
except that you can spec up these airs, and if you spec it up because you want to push it, then it throttles. if it were just a causal machine, then don’t allow it to be spec’ed up. it’s a bad option. Either get the base model and do emails only, or get the Pros. Otherwise, you get ripped off. No fan devices are iPad Pro territory.
1M PUSH, LET”S GO PPL 💪🏼
I was going to get the Midnight color until I saw how badly it attracts fingerprints, so the Starlight color definitely looks better for longevity 👍
Great advise and review! Thank you! Will be getting 8 core, 512GB SSD. I would need advice: Is 16RAM an upgrade necessary (my current usage on the activity monitor is green and sometimes yellow) and will the 67W adapter heat up the battery and shorten battery life (read from some reviews)? My usage: I usually need to connect to an external monitor, have multi tabs on google chrome and google drive, some apps like zoom, slack and pages. Any advice from anyone would be great! Thank you!!
Mike jump of ultrabooks. Lol. I don’t think a lot of people would get that reference, but I do.
Uhhh… you mentioned that by choosing the 67 watt usb c charger that you give up mag safe charging. I did not read this anywhere and I ordered mine with the 67 watt charger. So I won’t get a mag safe cable with it? I don’t see that anywhere on the apple site.
In fact it says in the fine print that all their tests were conducted using the 67 watt usb c charger and mag safe
Great, realistic review. So sick of other reviewers talking about the Air as if it’s meant to be for high end power users
3:28, if I remember correctly, the M1 MBA only had a 800:1 contrast ratio. If what’s displayed in the specific timestamp is correct, then it means the M2 MBA is indeed a significant improvement.
Great review as always!! I’m debating if I want to upgrade from my Macbook Air M1. But I think I am going to hold off.
Kind of looks like the old Samsung Chromebooks. That’s not a compliment. I think they should have stuck with the sharp edges.
love the review! simple yet powerful! plus you always have a cool shirts
Love the review and love the shirt hehe
