on what MacBook are we able to watch 4k Youtube videos?
Your fingers look very cramped using that keyboard
I have a lot of Apple products, but have a shitty windows laptop, I’m thinking of getting a Mac, but I’m not sure if it’s the right chose, I’m back and forward when it come to the macs.
I ordered the quad-core i5 model with 16gb ram on the day it was announced, I love the MB Air form factor and this one seemed like the ultimate: magic keyboard, retina display, quad-core CPU options, latest-generation processors.
I returned it after 10 days. It ran hot nearly all the time, even when doing non-processor intensive everyday tasks. The fan came on quite a lot.
A month later, Apple announced the new MB Pro. I ordered the 4-port model with the 10th gen CPU. I love it, except for the touch bar. It is fast, cool, and way more powerful than the pro. It is a few ounces heavier, but you don’t really notice that unless you have the two side-by-side.
I respectfully disagree with Aaron Z when he strongly recommends the MB Air over the base-model MB Pro with its older processor. I would say it depends on your use cases. If you absolutely don’t care about power or speed, and don’t do very much that’s processor-intensive, the Air might be better. It’s slightly lighter, it has the physical Fn keys, and it has an appealing form factor. But if you need any power at all, the base-model MB Pro is much faster and runs much cooler than the Air, it has much better thermals and a brighter, more color-rich display. There are lots of youtube videos by professional reviewers showing that the base MB Pro with its 8th-gen processor outperforms the new MB Air and comes close to the $1799 MB Pro with 10th gen processor.
But even when I disagree with Aaron Z, which is rarely, I always find his videos extremely helpful and packed with useful information and no b.s.
As always … Great review Aaron thx 👍 I have The 2017 MBP dual core (4) thunderbolt core i7 with 16GB Memory and 512 GB SSD… I’m a normal user with NO heavy apps used … just Office docs, emails, U-Tube videos, zoom meetings, etc… and I’m thinking to replace my MBP with the MB air 2020 / Quad-core i7 with 16-32 MB Memory and 1 TB SSD!! So, am I actually boosting up my machine?! I’m mainly concerned abt few things: heat / fan noise, not suitable to connect to another screen, different ratios no full screen view !!! And the limited (2) thunderbolt access only !!! If not then I’d rather wait for the (14”) MBP when it comes (rumors say in 2021!!) let me know your thoughts pls thx again 🙏
omg can someone tell me where to buy it? I’ve been looking online and I can find it (unless it’s not available in my country oof)
I miss the illuminated logo. It is perfectly fine for students. I wish they had put ports on both sides. The touch bar still seems gimicky to me
Awesome review!!!
I just ordered mine with i5 processor. No further upgrades as I am a very casual user. Upon seeing some other videos I am now getting worried about the MacBook getting really hot. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
this is on sale on amazon for $899 , i’m tempted… would this run adobe programs really smoothly?
I waited on this one. Then, Tom’s Guide and others present the problems with the MBP Pro 13 inch. Sigh. I did notice how different the 16″ MBPro keyboard as compared to the Macbook Air. (Typing this on new Samsung 4 Chromebook) Since Chromebook will be receiving full MS Office apps and support., for me laptops will not be necessary.
The keyboard for the 16″ MBPro is different, I wonder why.
how unreliable is macbook pro’s touch bar? I totally agree with zollotech going for macbook air or high end macbook pro, but that touch bar seems it will cause me some pain… lol
Is it worth it to get the i5 if all I do is surf the web, write papers, zoom calls and watch YouTube?
so what i’m understanding is that it’s basically a student computer, perfect for what i’m looking for. can’t wait to get mine 🙂
DO NOT BUY THE MACBOOK AIR 2020!!! It is a complete piece of crap it is basically unusable for any day to day work load. Keeps overheating during Zoom video calls and can’t even edit basic videos. Get the base 2020 MacBook Pro 13 if you can afford it or even a refurbished 2019 MacBook Pro 13 if you’re on a budget.
What’s the Idle Ram Consumption ?
Hi , could you please tell me which is a powerful device an ipad pro or MacBook air 2020. Kindly reply . Thanks
I’m a student and have been considering to get the MacBook Air, should I go with i3 or i5?? 🤔
Is the MacBook Air any better then the iPad Pro 2018 ?
Maaaan you nailed it! This is the first review whit all of the informations I need! Everybody is talking about comparison between Air and Pro, but nobody says nothing about upgrade from 2016 Pro. Everybody says about it has a heat problem, and that the Pro is much better with everything, but nobody is talking about things I need…browsing, some light programming or few times a year a video or music editing. It seems to be perfect for me! Thanks (By the way…the touch is something I hate on Pro’s. That and the keyboard was the reason I didn’t upgraded yet. Steve Jobs wouldn’t let that because it is just a waste of energy (battery life) and it is useful maybe when you use Pages or Word etc. but most of the time useless, even bad because i have to touch it twice or three times even to get what I want. And…if it fails, I do not have function buttons? It is insane! Very bad idea!) Thx again…you helped me a lot! Respect
