If I’m planning to get one MacBook Pro, should I get one of 512GB or 1TB?
Been watching almost 10 years now, always great work here
Very detailed video! Great job as always Lisa! I think I still gonna stick to my 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro is insanely expensive.
You shouldn’t need to download an application to throttle your cpu..
I love this woman. She does a great job reviewing tech!
Should be Ryzen APU alone, no need for a low end discrete GPU at all.
I like how casual she said “sort of like little condoms”
Apple is so futuristic and visionary that they’re putting 2040 inflation prices on 2018, that’s being ahead of competition.
13:49 dave2d call? ;D
“If you can afford it, take me out to dinner” 😂
I run Windows 10 at work. I’ve had to junk 2 PCs since updating to Windows 10, because both of them had some kind of unknown driver problem (I’m assuming) with Windows 10. Every single time Windows update tried to update Win10, it would cause the machines to crash endlessly during installation. Just an endless loop. I would get lucky occasionally and get system recovery to kick in and restore to the previous version, but it would take a lot of luck. Then I would still be stuck with Windows 10 forcing the failed update on me. I’d try to postpone it, but eventually Windows decides to initiate the update on its own when I wasn’t at my desk. I worked around it until the machines became bricked. I decided to buy new PCs, as it was not worth putting more effort into machines that clearly had driver issues with Windows 10. So now my new PCs that are about 4 months old, have just recently installed the last major Win10 update. This update decided to break accessing my server and shared drives. Turns out it’s a problem with the update either deprecating or turning off certain “Windows services/features.” So I’ve jumped through the hoops, tinkering deep in the bowels of Windows, and the fix still doesn’t fix it reliably. It is random now. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn’t. I’ll get into the server, leave the screen idle for a few mins, then all of a sudden lose connection.
You just can’t put a price tag on the stability, reliability, and user-friendliness of macOS. These MBPs are certainly more expensive than comparably spec’d Windows laptops, but there really is no comparison in quality. You get what you pay for. The build quality fit/finish of the hardware (which is truly unmatched, Apples machining capabilities are world-class) and the quality of the operating system with all the bundled software part of macOS justify the price tag. The Mac sets the bar for the entire industry, and has been for decades.
I’m sorry, but I’ve had it with Windows 10. Win7 was fine, Win10 makes me angry, while macOS delights me. It’s the difference between swimming upstream vs downstream. I’m a life long user of both platforms, these feelings were formed through decades of experience with both platforms. And if you DO have issues with Apple products, you have unmatched support EVEN out of warranty. That’s another part of the Mac experience that you can’t put a price tag on.
Great review, as always.
Gotta say, I lust over this device, but also hate it for processor b.s. and the price. If I had a few thousand bucks to throw at a laptop, I’d probably go for the Surface Book 2.
Still better than 2017 but shame it can’t use all of the power from the i9 processor.
I think Apple will shortly redesign the MacBook Pro with better cooling.
There is a reason this was released quietly.
Apple gave people the best specs but not the best cooling but this is normal for such thin devices.
So you’re choices are to use a EGPU or get something bigger like an IMac or MacPro.
Apple is ditching intel for its own processors. Now we know why.
I am sure pretty much most Wall Street top bankers wouldn’t blink an eye in ordering everything and click purchase… even at such insane tax, it is still more valuable than the keyboard added zeros in the fiat currency they command… period…
i7, 16gigs of ram, ssd, DDR4!!!!! Now that’s innovation! OH, and you can’t upgrade anything and its only $2700???? OMG SIGN ME UP, SIGN ME UP NOW!!!!!! Def worth the price to get the cut out of a fruit on the front cover!
Didn’t expect her to say “little condoms”. Haha. Great review
Lisa, your reviews are always bang on.

Still running a 2010 15″ MBpro 2.53 Ghz dual core with all the ports & it still runs great for Handbrake rendering & ripping Blu-Rays to server. Give me a FAT MAC any day if it lasts as well as this one has. Only one prob, with Kernel panic, but fixed with cap change & re-thermal pasting, ( cheers Louis Rossman). Thanks for the heads-up on the fan control app, Lisa. It works a treat, nice to keep an eye on my temps in the menu bar. Great review of the new MBPro, will keep saving t’ill they bring back some of the upgrade ability for the whole Mac Book range,
or will build a Hackintosh for home & keep my MBPro for lighter work.
Cheers Lisa, keep up the great reviews, like your more practical approach, instead of just speed benchmarks.
