ADVICE REQUEST AHEAD…
I’m thinking about purchasing a MacBook Pro 13” for college (law degree). I need a laptop for simple word processing in Word but that is also able to handle Photoshop editing (I do book covers and photo manipulation and I might decide to gain extra money from it in the future) and light video editing.
I have a budget of 2599 max. I’m thinking at least about 512GB of storage, 16 GB of RAM and i7 processor (if it gets too expensive I will cut down on the processor and get a i5).
The thing is I didn’t want the touchbar for battery reasons. But having the model with only 2 ports scares the crap out of me since I’m screwed if one stops working. I would also like the quad-core model. If I were to buy the touch bar model I would probably get the i5 since it’s quad core and if I purchased the non touchbar model I would max it out.
So I’m thinking of doing one of three things:
• Purchasing the new MacBook Air (with the updated design of this year and without that awful screen) and max it out.
• Purchasing the MacBook Pro 13” Non touch bar model i7 dual-core, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB Storage.
• Purchasing the MacBook Pro 13” with touch bar i5 quad-core, 16GB and 512 GB storage.
What is your advice? I’m indecisive because I’m not sure which of the last two laptop options would be better in terms of performance. The i5 with quad-core or the i7 dual-core.

How about xps13″ vs mp 13″?
Overpriced MAC OS junk
So if you get the i7 15″ are you less likely to suffer from thermal throttle issues?
Just bought MacBook Pro 13″ mid-2010 with $50. It is almost identical with these newer ones. What separates my Mac and these newer ones is the keyboard. After eight years the keyboard works and has key travel.
Nice review as always, well done.
have you tried undervolting these new mac with Volta?
Will we get an update on the macbook air?
Hope they don’t remove the USB port.
MacBook Pro 13 vs Surface Book 3 13 inch comparison please 😎😎😎. Great vid as always.
Please do the 9570! :))
I don’t understand why they still selling it with 8gb, which is a big no for any pro work. The difference between 8gb and even 12gb is huge. Well, next time I’ll be smarter and get the 16gb version.
Thanks for another good review.
God I love your videos, I don’t even care for Apple products and yet I watched this.
god damn fucking mac fan fuck tard
Great review as usual! Watching from Brasil!
My favorite tech reviewer! Your reviews are always unbiased and point out both the strengths and weaknesses. 💻
Always my go to channel! Apple is amazing they finally gave us a silicone condom (2:09) in a lap top!!!
It’s always important to understand that Apple computers never are expensive. They just cost a little more money. But down the line that money is worth the spend, hence the product not being expensive. The lifespan of a Macbook Pro compared to any other pc laptop is way longer. Still using my 2012 MBP and it’s been running flawless for 6 years and show no signs of failing. And it still brings quite a pretty penny back on the used/refurb market if it’s sold.
If we take out the obvious upside of the marriage between hardware and OS, the sheer quality of the product, materials and its components is so worth it. The fact that you on top of that can run both Windows and macOS on the same machine, should you want to, makes it a very good, solid buy.
The constant whining about the USB-C ports and dongles is straight out BS. As a professional photographer and filmmaker I deal with these ports every single day on my 2016 MBP. It’s not an issue. It’s ONE single thing to plug in and you’re good. How is that such a strain? And also, who the f*ck uses HDMI in 2018? Especially in the mac echo system with Airplay. Would it be nice with a card reader? Sure, but it’s not an issue plugging one in when needed. At least it doesn’t bother me more than unscrewing the lid of a bottle if I want to drink a soda.
And lastly, one more thing about second hand value, if I were to trade in my current 15″ MBP 2016 today to buy a new 2018-model, I would get $1900 for the old one (checked that in store on July 21). Just saying.
Use what you are comfortable with, PC or Mac, but stop saying that Apple computers are expensive. And yeah, great review.
They better update the non touch bar. Shit irks me
13 inches Macbook Pro was a joke product. It should have 4 core like 15 inches version. Now Apple still gives 13 inches 2 core for cheaper price. Actually not cheap at all !! Price for 4 core 13 inches is overpriced !! If you have money to buy 4 core 13 inches, just buy 15 inches one. But Apple is trying to sell much higher price than before. New 2018 15 inches Macbook Pro should cost $1799~$1999. Not $2400 and $2800. so just buy used Macbook Pro which cost about $999~$1499 for 15 inches version. Don’t waste money to get new product that you don’t really need it.
