i may get the 12 inch 2018 i7 16ram and 512ssd (non touchbar cuz i hate it) and eGPU 1080 🙂 what u think?
I just want to get an opinion on getting a new MacBook Pro. I currently have a MacBook Pro from mid 2012 starting to show its age. As a schoolteacher, I don’t do a lot of graphics and video editing photography stuff like that, just every day word processing, lessons, presentations, YouTube, Internet, document creation, run numerous tabs on browsers you know that kind of thing, though I plan on keeping it for number of years and don’t want anything that is going to run out or slow down quickly. I don’t really fall in the student category but don’t fall into the every day use area or video photo category ….kind of a little bit of everybody. I currently have used about 185 to 200 GB of my current hard drive of 750. I upgraded it when I purchased since I thought I was going to keep it a long time. I’m thinking of getting the new 2018 MacBook Pro 13 inch but I’ve been thinking of upgrading to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD with 2.3 i5 processor for the future. Any thoughts on those specs because as it is it’s a little bit over $2000 especially when I’m not gonna be using it for major heavy video photo anything that the tests run in the video probably are being used for I need to prove. Changing and updating to the 15 inch to something similar would be way over $2000 so I am debating whether it’s worth it and sticking with my desired upgrade specs for the 13 inch and whether it’s under done or overkill/or changes in configured specs that people might suggest. I am on my second MacBook Pro now so I’d like to stay in the ecosystem since I have an iPod and iPad already even though the school districts generally run in windows and some of the PC that they give me in the past have better specs but I like my Mac. One of the IT techs that’s good with Macs at my University commented to me about just switching out the hard drive for an SSD maybe adding some RAM and that would take care of the sluggishness and OSX issues (since I cannot update apps or operating system without going to a whole new version since I am stuck at 10.8.5) and waking up from sleep issues along with the crashing once in a while. Because at this point I cannot update my operating system without going to a whole new version and he said by doing that it might fix my issues. Would all be easier with an SSD and Ram plus he said it would save me a bunch of money versus buying a new one machine and would only cost me about a couple hundred dollars. I am just on the fence about investing in the new machine that’s more up-to-date versus using my old machine that still has the ports etc but he said I might only be able to get a couple years out of making those switches so I’m not sure if it’s worth it versus investing in something newer more up to date.
Are 16 gb RAM enough in 2018? If the you want the Mac to last a few years, isn’t it too little?
hi! congratulations great video but do you know if this setup it’s good enough to make some 3d rendering with maya or rhino as well??? and do you know if the bridgeos error will be fixed by software upgrades?
Lisa: You are awesome!
Lisa, do you know if they did the condom keyboard fix on the base 13″ laptop pro without the Touch Bar. You mentioned they haven’t upgraded it since the 2017 model and I can’t find anywhere if it still has the dust problem keyboard.
Can I edit 4K in premiere pro cc without having to create proxy files?

That’s a pretty big wireless mic you are wearing. Does it double as a flashlight? 🙂 j/k

No other laptop uses 28watt variant is not true.Dell XPS 13 9370 uses the same 28Watts variant CPU.Its not any special cpu.its just manufacturer has to enable it for that TDP.
