Great review, this is the kind of stuff I wanted to hear. I’m currently deciding between the base model and M370X; I don’t intend on playing games (although GTA V looks awesome) but I may end up purchasing an external retina/4K monitor in the future (once Apple update their Thunderbolt display). Will the base model fall short here?

I’m planning on making a purchase of a MacBook Pro for school really soon. I’m leaning more towards the upgraded version of the 15″ that is $2,500. Should I do that or wait until the next upgrade.
! or even go with the cheaper base model 15″ Pro? I’m a huge Apple fan and just have a hard time deciding on what is best. Upgrades happen every year and I just want to make the right decision. I’ll be using this MacBook Pro I purchase for a good 4-5 years. Would be great if I could get your opinion! Also, the video was great, but as you can see I’m still undecided. I’ll be doing light gaming, Internet browsing, storing photos, and maybe making movies/music. Was thinking about the 13″ but, I’m not sure if want the 13″ to do gaming and what not. Anyway, like I said, your opinions and advice would be great! Talk to you soon!!

750M wat they should have given u atleast 860m.wats wrong with apple why they make overpriced stuff without great specs.but i think macbooks are great students and editing.also i was planing on buying an asus tp300 transformer book.that thing costs only 700$ and gives me 840m

hp omen vs mbp pro 15”… I don’t really know which to choose. I would also like to game on either of the laptop and they both seem to be the same thing. The only thing making me not really want the omen is that everything is on the back.. and the battery life is a lot less than the macbook pro 15” one. But on the other hand the macbook pro 15” might have a underpowered gpu… Help please!

I got the mid 2014 version of the 15″macbook pro. What really called my attention was the difference in writing and reading speed of the SSD disk. Its 2x faster. Mine is a very fast, imagine 2x that. Wow. Too bad I couldn’t wait until the 2015 release to get it.

For those who have the money, trust me, just go ahead and buy it already. Don’t waste your time (unless you want to wait to see what Apple has in store in their Sept. presser). Get it done and over with it. Most times, you won’t regret buying a MacBook Pro. It’s expensive yes, but you get what you pay for. Think of the resale value too, people will still buy it 3-4 years from now. And let’s not forget, an Apple laptop can last at least 2-3 years. I owned a 2011 MBPro and finally upgraded. I now have no headache whether to get it or not. Worth it. And thanks Dave! Great review!

Hi Dave. I am looking to buy a Macbook Pro with Retina Display 2015 laptop. I currently use a beat up 15″ 2008 Macbook Pro and wish to get an upgrade. Now the hard part is picking the write laptop for an acceptable price, 13″ or 15″. I like the screen real estate of the 15″, but I will be carrying the laptop around a lot for college. I also plan to game on my laptop, CS:GO, League of Legends, Minecraft, etc. I want a macbook that won’t lag, give me great frame rates, won’t heat up, or spin the fan too loud. I also plan to do graphic design stuff—Cinema 4d, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, etc. Whats the difference between the Intel Iris Pro and Graphics 6100? And is it worth upgrading to 2.7, 2.9, etc. GHz?
