Hey could you help me out?

I have the new 2015 15inch model with the Radeon m370x. When I attempt to play my games I get heavy frame drops and stuttering. I have investigated further and found that my computer is throttling the gpu from its normal 800mhz to as low as 400. This is causing my games to be unplayable and is a real pain as the previous model with the 750m gave me no problems like this. Is there any way to stop the throttling? Can I contact someone at AMD and get them to fix this with a driver update? BTW I am in bootcamp.

Please HELP! I just spent so much on this computer and I feel terrible and that I have wasted my money. 🙁

I got the 15″ with the boosted up processor and the 1TB harddrive. With the M370X. I like it, but I had the Early 2011 model before this.

With the 31mu97, did you have to use SwitchResX to get 4k or did it work out of the box?

I did an update before the refresh (for reasons), and I am kind of selfishly glad its not a marked improvement. That being said, apple really need to put better graphics cards in their computers. I remember the MBP 2007, it had an Nvidia 8600M GT. That came out the same year as the MBP. It kept pace for a few years. But now these three year old graphics cards in new machines is a joke.

Im going to buy the older macbook pro non retina and add a ssd and 8gb ram in it. which is what im used to rn on my pc sadly the newer macbooks are too expensive for me. what do you think? 4th gen core i5 and intel hd 5000 graphics? good enough for lightroom and making timelapse videos on adobe premier pro or after effects? only 1080p. will it be good?

Hi Dave,

I plan to purchase a mac book, I have two options in mind:

1) New 13 inch mac book pro with 16 GB RAM ~ costing me around 1700$

2) Refurbished 2014 mac book pro 15 with NViDIA graphics card + 16 GB RAM~ costing me around 1900$

I am a bit confused, which one would you recommend ?
