Have a 2015 13′ myself! Done a motherboard swap from the stock 2.7 i5 to 3.1 dual core i7 processor, 16 Ram and a Samsung 980 pro 1 TB SSD. It’s quite the best and last model macbooks apple has released with the I/O ports and recent MacOS.
Great video! Recently bought a mid 2015 MacBook and I was wondering if you have any suggestions on macOS and apps to use for graphic design and photo editing
Thanks
I’m still on Mojave. Would you recommend Monterey?
I could swear mine has true tone – does this mode really not have it?
Im in the market and I was leaning towards the 2015 Mac but I was looking at the 2019 I actually like all of the stuff that this does/doesn’t do compared to the 2019 I prefer the speakers as well so I think I’ll get my first Mac
Great review, thanks for sharing good man! Probably going to get one to try them out.
Getting mine tmmr 😀
I bought my 2015 13 inch Macbook Pro in 2016 new. It was the lowest spec model and I use to this day. At school, it lived on a battery with classwork and Powerpoint presentations all day. Yes, it is a little sluggish in areas. At the moment, I don’t have a have a heavy workload for this to be a concern until I return to CAD and design work. Then I will buy a newer machine. But the for the basic work and projects, this machine is working fine. I’ve replaced the battery because of the high cycle count was no longer charging properly and was performing very slow. I also upgraded the SSD to a 256GB as 128GB was paltry then. While there is some life left in this machine, be advised that MacOS Monterey is the last OS this machine will support. Unless something catastrophic happens to the machine, I will keep this even when I get a new MacBook Pro.
Can I do ios development and web development in this mac with ease?
Risking being heathenized, perhaps this machine would be better on Windows 10 or Linux.
My bro is selling his i5 dual core 512 ssd for only 160$. Ill replace the battery and hopefully this would be good for me. Only do light tasks anywaysp
2015 Pro one will not get next Macos updates so we will be able to update Apps or not?
Does on older Macos Apps update possible
Beautiful video, heavy user here: MacBook Pro i7 15” 2,7Ghz. Using Monterey killed performances, I downgraded to Mojave and it works fast and smooth with video editing…
700 for that? I bought a m1 chip 2020 pro for 520 lol
How many more years would a 2015 last
Had a 2.9, 16Gb, 256Gb since early 2015 and amazing as it was/is. It’s feeling pretty old and a bit glitchy now even performing clean installs once every couple years. Minimal screen peel, battery still ~9hrs, replaced the thermal paste as it got a bit, “crispy”. Having ultimate hatred for the Touch Bar, I think the 14” Pro is soon to be the replacement. I wish they hadn’t added that damn notch but I think it’s the logical successor (with ports!!) that should get another 7yrs hopefully!!
Just picked up a mid 2015 MacBook Pro, 15 inch, i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 512ssd that is absolutely IMMACULATE and without even a tiny scratch. I don’t know how that’s even possible for a laptop- or anything else-that’s 7 years old….
It only cost 520 pounds and works fantastically- it’s like a brand new machine! I’ve owned MacBooks since 2008- the white unibody Mac was my favourite- and now my oldest daughter has a 2021 MBP, my youngest daughter has a MacBook Air and we all own iPads and iPhones so we’re fully invested in the Apple ecosphere- but this MBP is absolutely superb value for money! Highly recommended!!
Great review!!! I’m actually going to be getting a Mid 2015 15 inch within the next couple of days. I currently have the 2017 13 inch but I don’t particularly care for the butterfly keyboard or the Touch Bar like I thought I would.
I have a 2015 early MacBook pro that runs good, runs macOS Sur, and I have M1 Mac Mini now.
Best Review!!!!!
