Size wise the 15” is a better choice, it does depend on your budget. If you are considering any upgrades look at the model above. I wanted 16Gb of RAM and that was standard with a pro. Also better storage was also standard with the next model. I couldn’t justify the extra costs of a MBP with a max chipset. I also bought mine a few months after and Amazon was offering a new laptop slightly less than RRP and with 5 easy payments which did take the sting out of the price.
Thoughts on macOS Sonoma?
I’m going to get my 15 inch MBA M2 next month… I’m super excited to have it in my hand… love the 15 inch MACBOOK AIR…
It’s zero contest. I spent a half hour between the 15” and 14” seeing how I felt about the screen sizes. There’s zero chance I’d use a 13”. Perhaps if one’s personal budget is that tight, but to that I say spend $700 on a used M1 and live your life. I was playing with the resolutions too. ..and decided my perfect laptop is 14.65 inches, and has a resolution between the standard one and the smallest one. A shame we don’t have a slider to select the perfect size.
Anyways- decided to do my own personal stress test on the 14”. Opened 50 various safari tabs, had one 4k YouTube vid playing and 2 on pause, had Word open, iTunes open, photos open, GarageBand playing the default song that I tripled the tracks on..and I couldn’t think of anything else I personally would have open at once. The thing chugged along with 13g ram used. None in the swap. 5ish gigs compressed. Safari tabs would open back up instantly. Everything was butter. I’m super impressed. Makes me debate upgrading to 32g and instead going 1tb ssd. I get concerned for future-proofing (10yrs).
But then I debate— could buy a new MacBook when it’s on sale for $400 off.. then in a year or 2 when the next model is $400 off.. sell the old one for a loss of maybe 200?? And buy the newer discounted model.. and even though I’ll be behind a generation each year, I’ll never be more than 2yrs old and it would probably be cheaper than spending $2400 every 10 years. Your thoughts? I know that’s a lot lol. My only concern would be some computer mastermind being able to retrieve data off of my ssd- even with a clean install of MacOS.
