Apart from thermal issue, I’d definitely pick 15” MBA
Thanks for the review! 😁
Thanks for the video! Any experience with the 14” MBP? I’m curious how it compares to that.
I love that you actually do sound comparison, it’s really awesome
A OLED display would have been a nice additon as well. The blooming and inferior quality of IPS panels are really an eye sore for such an expensive laptop.
Why is no one talking about Dave’s hair? It’s starting to look like a french philosopher with a DJ side job
The elephant in the room is MacBook Pro 14. You get an in-the-middle display size, but much better display quality and performance. If you spec this new Air 15 to 16/512 to match the Pro 14, it’s really close in price – especially considering the fact that M1 Pro models have been selling for ~$1600 for quite a while, so you might even get a better deal on those compared to Air 15. I would honestly just go for the Pro 14.
Still costs $1699 for 16 GB Memory and 512 GB Storage and you know what… it sucks… No Windows laptop of this price range offers 256 GB Storage and very rare of them have 8 GB RAM… This is just Apple’s Marketing Fooling You. But still if you’re trapped in Apple’s Walled Garden, it might be a good deal for you…
Edit – And yeah obviously when other brands offer Gen 4 SSD and some even support Gen 5 ones… here you’re stuck with Gen 2 speeds at the 256 GB Storage variants
– The 15-inch MacBook Air has been highly anticipated and is expected to be Apple’s best-selling laptop.
– Many people have been wanting a bigger screen on Apple computers without having to pay for the Pro devices.
– The 15-inch MacBook Air has similarities to the 13-inch model, including the keyboard, key spacing, and color options.
– Performance between the two models is surprisingly similar, with both having thermal limitations under heavy workload.
– The port configurations, headphone jacks, and color-matched MagSafe cables are the same for both models.
– The 15-inch device is slightly thicker but the difference is barely noticeable.
– The main difference is the screen size, with the 15-inch having significantly more surface area and providing a better experience for those who prefer big screens.
– The resolution is higher on the 15-inch model, but it lacks the Mini-LED backlighting and 120Hz promotion of the MacBook Pro displays.
– Dave2D praises the speaker system on the 15-inch MacBook Air, considering it surprisingly good for such a thin device, comparable to the 14 and 16-inch models.
– The trackpad on the 15-inch model is slightly bigger to maintain proper size and proportion.
– Battery life is similar between the two models, with a minor difference.
– The base price for the 15-inch model starts at $1300, $100 more than the 13-inch model, but it offers the full M2 Chip.
– RAM and storage upgrades are expensive, with $200 extra for each upgrade. RAM upgrades are recommended over storage upgrades.
– The slower speed of the base model storage (256GB) is not a significant issue for regular computing needs.
– The real size of the 15-inch MacBook Air is best experienced in person, as it has a larger footprint than the 13-inch model and may not fit in smaller bags.
– For those seeking a compact and portable device, the 13-inch MacBook Air is still the better option.
My theory concerning Apple having issues selling m2 macbook is the fact that 1400 dollars (the most money people accept to spend on a personal non-pro laptop) doesn’t give you 16 gb Ram and at least 512 storage.
If you intend to use it for 3-4 years, it is unacceptable.
Apple should upgrade their base range from 8g to 16. It’s been years now since they upgraded from 4go.
People need to get better machines from previous generation, at the same price.
Someone who would like to upgrade from a Macbook Air M1 16go/512 has no incentive to upgrade…
I’ve got a 1TB 16inch MBP with M1 Pro and 16GB RAM. I’ve had it since the fall of 2022 and to this day, I hammer myself over the head for not going with 32GB RAM. It was a 400€ option though. And I already paid 3150€ for it.. At the time it seemed to much. But since I do a lot of windows VMing, I really struggle sometimes. Thank god that first gen 1TB disc is like.. 6.8GB/s to keep up with all the page-ins..
Just half an inch could be the difference between usable 2 windows and forced 1 window usage due to size….
Bummer no one’s mentioning the signature tapered edges of the Air..
$200 extra for more ram😂
Dat mini LED display in pro though …
Dave2D and MKBHD menstrual cycles are in sync😂

Other than the missing 120Hz and mini-LED screen specs, I got it with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Can’t wait to use it!

256gb SSD? What year is it?
