Great intro! Stick with this one!
I am somehow stuck with Mac OS and don’t see myself working with ‘Windows’. My current MBP is 4.5 years old and I decided it’s time for a new 15” MBP which arrives in a couple of days. I have to say that I am not terribly excited about that new machine because it does not bring anything terribly uplifting to the table for me. A bit thinner, yawn. Touch bar? Gimmick! Never liked any Apple screen, only use quality matte external monitors. Louder speakers? Yawn. It’s dongle jungle and it’s bloody expensive but it has probably better performance than my seriously outdated machine and I like the SSD speed. Let’s see and give that clicky keyboard a gorilla workout.
Lisa you’re awesome I really trust your reviews, never change!
easily the best female tech reviewer on youtube! Thanks … ordering one today.
5:54 after brightness adjust screen flickered…no?
I LOVE the click key thing btw…. I owned an IBM PC back in the day and so miss those loud and tackle clicks..
Pliz do a review on the 13 inch model with touch bar and some comparisons with others..
Basic design error: Form should follow function. Not the other way around. Until Apple figures that out again, I’ll go elsewhere.
I have tried the keyboard and it seriously borders on unusable for me. Of course it’s personal preference but to have a universal input method on a computer be so divisive is a design disaster. Apple is losing their panache big time.
u can’t even use it on your lap anymore with those silly dongles LOL.
I also feel like people will want to steal those dongles.
The trapped is bigger for computer anamaters
OWC has a thunderbolt three dock, at the very least this will solve the dongle issues at home.
Eventualy the Trackpad is that Big so that Apple can Release auf Update so that werden can draw on it with an Apple pencil?
Would be very nice to see a comparison review between it and the Microsoft machine.
“15 meters thick”?? Haha oh americans and your metric issues…
6:57: I hope you know that you also can only “Hold and slide” to precisely adjust brightness. Don’t see how that is “less efficient” just because there are no physical button for either lower or increase brightness. In general I think a brightness slider that is quick to access (You don’t have to “press”! Only hold and slide) is a better solution than two buttons.
I’ve been using Apple products for a decade now, but they’re really grinding my gears: prices, removed features, etc…
The 2014 15″ will be the last MBPr I’ll have.
From what you say, it sounds like you think Apple overdid the ‘sheik’ treatment. Style over substance and usefulness.
I’ve tried it, and adored it! I can’t wait to receive mine in a couple of days. The screen is amazing and the keyboard is effortless. I love that its not a touch screen. Reaching your hand out to touch the screen is just not efficient and it’s bad for your posture.
It’s seems to be a trend on YouTube to bash this new edition. Reviewers say they dont like it to not stand out from the viewers and lose popularity. And the people who bash is have not actually tried it, but are just following the masses of people who can’t afford it, so they bash it instead. Classic human behavioral psychology. They are the real sheep here. If you dont like it, dont buy it. Easy as that.
The ports are not a big deal either. In 2 years everything will be USB-C. Most new high end PC’s are launching PC’s with USB-C now. Look at the razer blade PC e.g. And most PC’s dont have SD card slots either. And if they do, they dont work half the time anyway. In a couple of years the old USB-A port will just gather dust and make the computer unnecessarily bulky. And as opposed to a PC, a Mac will actually last you for 5 years on average. Of course Apple has to stay ahead of their time then. In 5 years USB-A will be like the CD and the 3,5 mm audiojack, – old techology.
