The clackbook pro hahahaha
Ah, now here we go – the PROPER reviewer has entered the room – NOW we can make an *INFORMED* decision based on the musings of someone who creates reviews in their TRUE SENSE, not “reviews” that amount to _”I’ve opened the box and typed for three hours, now here’s my review”_
God bless you, Lisa! 🙂
Matthew, England, a true admirer of yours.
Hi Lisa, i must say.. i’m a bit disappointed with you not endorsing the touch strip on the MacBook. It seems as you don’t fully understand the reason and vision behind Apple’s design decision.
First of all, regarding your comment about muscle memory, it’s completely not true. What we are dealing with here is context based muscle memory. Just like in pc games, where in each game you have a different key set for the game. Muscle memory works pretty darn fast with gamers because the muscle memory recognizes the context it’s in – the game. The same with a video editing software for example, the touch controls will change accordingly and so will your muscle memory kick in for that specific software.
Secondly, apple CHOSE not to include a touchscreen. The whole thing behind Apple’s decision is that touchscreens IN LAPTOPS are plain wrong! The intent behind the touch strip is to keep the user’s hands on the keyboard for as much as possible without him moving over to the mouse or touchscreen, this helps create a more fluent and efficient user experience.
Guess I should wait for next year’s model 🙁 Surely with all the criticism they received they will HAVE to either drop the price by a decent amount or bump the specs, or both.
They should of named it The Apple AdaptBook. What an absolute gimmicky (touchbar) joke. Nice display, well made. Other than that it’s a joke. This thing will not sell well at all. Tim Cook, I can’t believe you approved this notebook as a “Pro” device. My advice, scrap it, apologize and go back to the drawing board.
The 15″ speakers do fire up through the speaker grilles. Check iFixit’s teardown and you’ll see the speakers do in fact have cutouts up through the speaker “grilles” and actually fire up, not down: https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/fOqqvLVNDB6fkgCm.medium

i only hear complain on this review .
there this game on steam called grip anyone can tell what 13 inch notebook will play that well that’s under $800.
All soldered together = one thing broke and all good ones are rubbish…
At 00:12 late 2015? I think you mean 2016 😉
Always enjoy your reviews! So common-sensical. Yes, the Razer Blade looks like a great alternative for those seeking a portable powerhouse without resorting to a full gaming rig. I still use my 2011-era iMac (27) and MBP. Both were specked out near the top and have aged gracefully. I am not interested in anything Apple is making right now. Shame.
It really impresses me how unbiased she is. She doesn’t get sucked into marketing she just uses the machines as tools and asks if it’s good or not. Great reviewer. Hope she never leaves
While much better than the entry level model, this is an “OK” laptop for an EXTRAORDINARY price of 2400 dollars + tax (about 35 dollars) and any shipping + dongles. You could literally buy a car. Who is purchasing this and what’s your contact info so I can sell you some beachfront property in Montana? I’ve got great deals.
think you said late 2015 model at the start, not late 2016?
Another great review by Lisa. I am typing this from my 2015 15″ rMBP with DGPU. I was pretty sure I would not upgrade, and reviews like this have made me sure I will not.
I will revisit the upgrade decisions when the next refresh comes out, hopefully with Kaby Lake and a 32 GB option. By that time all of the dust around the TB-3 ports should have settled and hopefully someone will have a dock that supports 2 – 4k Monitors, USB-A 3.1 ports, ethernet, SD card, and charges the laptop. All on one single USB-C ended TB-3 cable.
IMO the 15″ version doesn’t have to be ultra thin or ultra power saving so why bothering with this stuff? For THIS price, it has to have at least a Geforce 1070 and at least 16 gigs DDR4 ram and at least 512 GB ssd.
If you are someone who doesn’t already own a MacBook, and is not concerned about using dongles, would you recommend getting the 2015 or 2016? For photo and video editing.
Been a Mac user for 10 years, currently using a late 2011 MacBook Pro. This new MacBook Pro is a fricking joke. Over priced and under powered. I added up the cost of dongles I would need, $200 worth of dongles! (before Apple temporarily discounted them). I hate to say it, but I’m going back to Windows and going with an Alienware laptop. Apple has lost its way, take stuff out of your product them charge you more. Apple called anything that wasn’t USB-C legacy devices. Well I was in Costco the other day it was full of legacy devices. Cameras, iPads, External Hard drives, USB drives, what a bunch of arrogant twats. Man am I pissed, been waiting to upgrade. I’ll be taking my money elsewhere. Great review, thank you.
DDR3 vs DDR4 on windows. which one to get ?
Hey could you make a review of the razer blade with the gtx 1060 in it?
