This is the problem these days, I always used Apple products, but having to put in all the moneys just to be future proof immediately, is a no-go for me. I want to decide that myself, start cheaper, add more later.

Great review! I’m torn between getting a 14″ macbook pro from the refurbish shop or the air. I’m leaning towards the Pro as I tend to push the machine a bit but this air is pretty tempting.

Best way I found to overcome the 1-external monitor limitation is with a WQHD ultra-wide monitor and Magnet. I don’t feel like I miss out on anything.

If you want to support multiple monitors you get a dock, not a Pro. Holy Cow! I have used a dock for years because everything is ready when I sit down to my desk. I have a stand to raise the laptop display to the correct height and the dock is underneath. I’ve upgraded my laptop several times but the dock is fairly old and I rarely think about it. The dual monitor tail doesn’t have to wag the laptop dog.

Awesome review! Great lil comparison of screen quality eith sirfaces/ Yogas. Good to know. Didnt even think about the single display option as my mac mini outputs from hdmi and usbc. Airplay it is then!

I agree that Apple’s up-charging for internal HDD is crazy, but to me, the whole point of a laptop is convenience – and having to fiddle with eHDD and dongles goes against that. I have 512mb in my 2017 MBP and do have an eHDD (so I know the inconvenience from personal XP). I tend to leave the eHDD in the case and rarely use it these days. I’m a bit concerned with the lack of heat sinks in these new MBA laptops – I think I could get away with them as a civilian – I’m not a professional YouTube content creator or anything…but I like better thermal management in my devices. I’m not really saying there’s a problem. I just need reassurance that the MBA handles eat ok over the long-term lifespan of the unit. Nice review!
