I own a MacBook Pro 13 2018 with everything maxed out (i7, 16GB Ram, 1TB). I’m looking for a dedicated machine for my audio setup. Do you recommend me to get this one or just to use my 2018?

I’m using a 2019 MBP 13″ base model, and it doesn’t have any screen wobble like in the video.

The thing about the lower end is that 16gb with 2TB is a bit lower for some pro apps. For an example Final Cut Pro will sometimes use 25GB and it’s projects can quickly chew up the 2TB. Pretty sure those specs are available on the MacBook Air. Would expect the Pro to have a lot more because that is what some pros use not for the “bragging rights.”

Definitely should mention you get two fans on the higher end model vs one fan on the lower end model as well as actual tests and benchmarks, both of which I feel are very important to everyone watching this video.

Hey ☺️. I have one question concerning the so-called staingate issue. I‘ve read about it online and tbh I never heard about it before. According to certain forums this seems to be a wide spread issue and it almost makes me feel as if your macbook inevitably will be affected after a couple of years. But on the other hand I’ve never seen it being mentioned in any youtube MacBook review. And I can’t find reliable information how widespread this issue actually is or if it is still an issue withe the more modern 2019/2020 models. I’m just really concerned on spending far more than a thousand dollars on the new macbook pro 2020 (especially bc i hope to use it 5+ years) without knowing if my screen is going to break after a while. And i know about the inofficial repair-program….but after four years the affected models won’t be covered anymore and the screens still can break so….

Do you have any experience with this or advice? Should this be a dealbreaker for such an expensive device?

This advice is SOOO wrong. As I type, I am transferring my data from the cheaper 2020 MBP I got last week with the faster, four-port 2.0 ghz MBP I got today. The cheaper one heats up quickly so the fans are going most of the time., if you’re on any sort of video chat. I have always Zoom’d a lot, and even my old 2015 MBP didn’t turn the fans on as often as this one does/did. It’s not worth the few hundred you’ll save by going cheap. To be clear, I do not edit video nor do photoshop or anything really taxing. I am a 30-year Apple fan (so very loyal), but I am a businessman. I merely run MS Office apps and Zoom/Teams. So, if Excel, Outlook, Word, PPT and then Zoom tax this thing, it’s not worth it.

Should I get the base model MBP or MBA I have no real need for the extra power the MBP just looking for reliability. Had problems with my old MBA with battery life. Not sure if getting the MBP solves that. Heard they the new MBP has better thermals and the MBA overheats at small tasks with the form factor and the 10th gen chips. If anyone responds ty appreciate the answer

I think it also depends on your use case. For me, I bought the cheaper one with extra $100 for the extra 8gb ram. A little extra performance like saving a few seconds here there doesn’t matter to me as I am using this mostly for general usage plus photoshop, no video editing or gaming(I bet $1799 can’t do much gaming either even with better graphic card). I’d love to save that $400 towards other things like a monitor and some accessories. Plus $1799 is awfully close to base 16 inch model, which I see on sale for $1980 from time to time. For that $200 difference or less, you get so much more performance on the 16 inch. So for me either base 13 inch with 16 gb ram or base 16 or high end 16 inch make more sense.

When you configure them with the same ram and SSD the price difference isn’t that big. Better speakers, 4 ports, and a better iGPU are.worth the upgrade imo.
