Apart from the fact that you wanted an 850, is there any technical reason/flaw why you bypassed the 810? Out of the two I’d opt for the 850 just on resolution and tilt screen alone but it comes at twice the price of the 810 secondhand and I’m not sure if it has twice the benefits over the 810. I currently have a Fuji XT4 system and love it but want to get back to the heavier full-frame DSLR outfit that I used to enjoy using (I had a D800 some years back). Great shots and video, look forward to seeing more from the D850.
Great to see you rocking the D850 Ben. Can I add my scenario to the discussion…..
I’m just about to sell my D750, D800 & D850 and most of the F mount glass and get a Z6ii & Z7ii.
I shoot a mix of stills and video, and at 60 years of age, viewing the back screens now means putting strong reading glasses on and off, even just to read the menus.
With the mirror-less bodies I can view all of that in the viewfinder crystal clear, with no fiddling around with reading glasses. That alone is a game changer. Oh, and those Z lenses are O-so-sharp shooting wide open!
Happy shooting everyone.
Hi, nice video – thanks for that. So I have a question: Where can I buy your L-bracket around the D850? Kind regards from Germany.
A very good post, it is always said only the Dslr death, but as is known death said live longer, I like my D 850 and will still use it for a very, very long time, I see no reason at all to bring up this hype of mirrorless, for a technique that is matured over decades, and I make with the best camera no better pictures if I can not use them, have no creativity, the picture still makes the person behind the camera that is the crucial thing in the first place
congrats on the new camera!D7200 is my backup camera. Well over 100,000 shutter actuations and it still works. My workhorse is the D500 and Also lust after the D850. Not sure when / if I will go mirrorless. Hey, on the crack on the D7200, to ensure it remains waterproof, mix up a little epoxy glue and fill the crack. If you’re more concerned about performance than looks, the epoxy filling the small crack will work just fine. I wouldn’t use super glue because it won’t fill the void the way the thicker 2 part epoxy would. It will look like “poo” but it will work. Good work on taking it apart and putting it back together. I never have problems taking things apart, it is the putting back together where I usually hit the wall.
I ma going to buy nikon d850
The price is coming down, and the D850 can be found used in excellent condition for very reasonable prices. It’d be a great upgrade from my D800, although it’s no slouch with its 36.3 mp sensor..
Great video, the 850 will probably be my next camera after I’ve built my camera fund a bit more. Currently have a d810 which is decent so wouldn’t be so much of a learning curve.
Столько много положительных отзывов о d850. Сейчас Выбираю новый фотоаппарат взамен моего d90. И не могу решить, брать d850 или z7ii
Looking at videos on D850 to see if it is still a popular camera in 2022. I paid full price a few years ago…then lost my beautiful studio and I had to rethink my situation. I never stopped loving this camera…it has spoiled me as I dont want to pick up my 2 Nikon DFs very much. I shoot portraits and mostly dancers in the studio and at performances..fast action no flash setting iso to 3200 shutter 1/320 low light…I make my own prints and they look good in 13×19…I still forget about the touch screne! Anyway I love this camera…its practically a medium format instrument…I cant switch to mirrorless. This is probably my last camera…but always buying grids, modifiers etc etc!!! I enjoyed seeing you wake up to coffee and going out on your adventure…soooo different than my life here in NYC…some of the soul kicked out but trying to bounce back…I have a shoot tomorrow in my smaller space. Ready to go with the D850!
I have a d500 but looking at the d850 or z6ii lol but think I’ll be getting a d850, great video and images
Still want one, my old d200 is really showing its age. I’d get one in a heartbeat, but my mortgage says no.👍,
Hi Ben, great video. I have been a nikon shooter for more than 10 years and still happy shooting with nikon camera. D850 is a great camera, especially I cannot afford nikon single digit camera right now…The buttons and operating Nikon D850 is excellent and when we talk about quality is always superb. I have not been try d850 with new Nikon lens collections… hope you will have a review on that. Cheers from Indonesia.
I have the exact same nespresso.. very nicely done video and that D850 is going to be relevant for many many years to come.
I’m currently saving up for the D850 . This video was just perfect. Told me everything I need to know so thank you.
Wayne from Andover, Hampshire
there’s a product called Bondic which will seal that crack. its not expensive and its great for plastic repairs. great video and superb pictures
I have been swaying between the D850 and the R5, but always drift back to the D850 (for wildlife). I would anticipate buying one over Easter in the hope of some deals before the prices go up again.
It was great seeing this video. You sound much like me regarding cameras and gear in general. I too have a nikon Dd7200 and long wanted a D850. Can you answer a question, what lens do you prefer for this camera? Was that lens used to take the photos presented in this video? Thank you for making the video. All the best to you.
Well of course it is. Older cameras don’t just stop being good just because some newer kit comes out. There still isn’t another DSLR that can touch the D850.
I have nikond850 on the way
