Day 129: Komogi X and X Gongi
This is the episode where the King first wonders what his name is & askes the royal gaurd, and episode where he was about to klLL Komogi till he saved her from the hawk. There’s a lot to talk about here for the two scenes meantioned. I’ll stick with the latter for today.

First, the King in his release of violent aura says that he is a powerful being that indiscriminately snuffs out innocent life he deems inferior for no real reason. He believes his violence & strength power is above all other types of power. is the He believes that is true power in his animalistic and violent view that he can lash at anyone anytime. He tries to justify keeping Komogi alive was to him just wanting to waste time till the sorting. The hawk attacking her was the same hawk outside that flew away when the hawk sensed Merum’s aura. In a way, merum saw the actions of violence on a fragile weak creature he was about to snuff out. The hawk likley wouldn’t have gone into the room to harm Komogi hadn’t Merume release his violent aura.

Maybe if Merum’s thought process was kinder, the hawk wouldn’t have been set off. Bc his small speech did sort of lead you into thinking he was in remorse of his actions in snuffing out the ppl and the child he came across. So if his thought process was kinder and remorseful like what Pouff and the audience were meant to believe as a possibility. Merum would have still spared Komogi. So either way, Komogililkey would have ended up being spared. But these are hypotheticals.

Anyway, Merum sees Komogi, a fragile being too weak and selfless to disturb others though herself being harmed. This baffles Meruem, Komogi’s passiveness is completely different than merum’s aggressiveness. The moment Meruem knelled down to show concern for Komogi 100% shawes he cares for Komogi, what he deemed (inferior and could be snuffed out easily by Meruem’s power). Meruem calls her a guest of the king, meaning validating her as a being worthwhile of care. This is totally different to what HE LITERALLY SAID MINUTES BEFORE that other powers pail in Merum’s power in violence and strength! Seeing him question why he is saying these comforting and words of concern is astonishingly great writing and character development. He asks what is this fragile creature & what does he want to do with her? Does he want to klLL her, protect her, or is he just trying to understand what the heck to do with beings that aren’t skilled in raw power like merum is. There is the slow building of complexity as merum sees and learns more about the world. His whole worldview and instincts are being more and more exponentially being called into question.

Visually, the scene is astounding. My favorite part is him kneeling down to her level in content looking at her injuries.

The first time i saw this scene, I was dumbfounded, because I honestly really didn’t like The King as he was voilent, spoiled, ruthless, cold, evil and harmed innocent for no real reason. A study showed (i forget what exactly) but it surveyed people from all over the globe of different backgrounds and cultures, what is the most evil thing. A majority of people said the most worst type of evil is evil or harm for no real reason. That to me was merum and the whole goal of the Chimera Ants. Plus he literally looks like a Goku level threat from DB like Frieza, Cell, and Majin Bu lol. So my expectations were that Merum would be the badest Goku level threat that Gon and Killua would end up fighting and winning bc I’m conditioned by traditional shounen. Then there was this ever-growing complexity of him that sorta caught me off guard a little but I still didn’t like him. This scene knocked my off my a$$. Another scene forever cemented in my mind. Bc it was Merum’s concern for Komogi and questioning his actions.

4rd day… Kurapika (psychic/dark): Masquerain , Phanthump, Espeon, Absol, Corviknight, Mega Absol

Kurpaika is very intelligent, critical thinker who is able to quickly plan and almost exactly predict enemy’s actions. Which to me fit the psychic type. He is deep in his darkness and revenge against the phantom troupe and taking back his clan’s scarlet eyes. Dark-type to me should mean that the character isn’t necessarily a “bad” person, it means that there’s a deep shrouding void, darkness or something missing about them. Kurapika is drowning in an indescribable emptiness, gets the dark typing to himself. Masquerain is a spiderlike pokemon in its pre-evolution, Surskit. But will evolve so it does not remind Kurapika of spiders. Masquerain’s eyes are reminiscent of the scarlet eyes. Phantump is the ghost of his friend Pairo. The Curta clan lived in the forest where the souls of the clan became Phantumps. Corviknight represents the time Kurapika loses when he uses emperor time. Crows are closely connected to death. Very well suits Kurapika’s darkness. Espeon and Umbreon suit Kurapika’s notable intelligence and masterful ability to read people’s actions through observation. Psychic & dark types seem to suit Kurapika. Mega Abosl is unleased when emperor time is used. The angel of death.

The soundtrack, the feelings that the work makes you feel are priceless, the characters are extremely charismatic, the whole concept of Nen is very well worked, Togashi manages to make the viewers are interested in getting to know more deeply the rich universe that Hunter x Hunter has, I am very grateful to know this work, it represents a lot to me and it has marked a wonderful time in my life, Ireally love the worka wonderful time in my life, i really love the work
