Gyro’s backstory is so commonly overlooked as one of the saddest moments in Hunter x Hunter. It is such a beautifully crafted moment that brought me to tears. It had no color, yet reflected this blinding array of meaning that carried forth more color than any actual color could have. In that moment I could feel his pain, his suffering, his endless hatred for his father and his bottomless heart. I can understand why he wanted to have the world feel what he has felt. I am no psychopath but I sure as hell feel like I could be with this song. Gyro will be an absolutely groundbreaking character when he debuts and I haven’t even seen his actual character yet. To manifest so much power in a few minutes— no, in a few WORDS is mind-boggling. Togashi, you are truly amazing.
