DON’T GET THE M20X !
– it’s big bass response is deceptive, HUGELY DEAD MIDS!! This is awful for monitoring, AND will often force you to turn the volume higher, and higher, for wanting it to sound ‘better’… But it won’t, and will HURT YOUR EARS !!!
– gets (very) uncomfortable after around 1h of wearing !

It has good sound ‘definition’ , but it’s not worth it imo, it’s more deceptive than useful !
Because you’ll think you have a quality headphone when actually the EQ is horrible !
Of course, it’s as good as it can be for 50 bucks, but honestly it’s SO MUH WORTH to get an upgrade of it !!
I haven’t tested the M30X but I’d say, since they emphasize in its description, that the mids are better, that it’s THE CHEAPEST VERSION WORTH BUYING !
of course, as everyone is praising the M40x, go for it if you can afford it,
But if you’re really on a budget, trust me, the M20X is a bad idea.

I had the ATH-M20X and it lasted a few years. I did have to replace the headphone cloth due to the cloth developing a bad smell. Eventually one of the forks broke that hold the cups after normal use. One a fork breaks the headphone is trash because the area is high high stress and low surface area for glue or tape.

Are the forks make of stronger material such as metal on the higher end versions?

Ive had the m30x over a year now. Really tight and hurt my ears even after breaking them in for so long. Good sound for the price still not comparable to something like the dt990/770.
If your mixing go with dt990/770s instead of m50x
