Surprise surprise, the Focal Elex is now available at Headphones.com for $700 over here: https://headphones.com/products/focal-elex-headphones

Has issues with: Blown drivers, broken headbands, driver clipping and in addition to that you have to deal with horrible Focal customer support if something breaks. No thank you.

The supposed driver issues is the only reason I’ve yet to purchase one. Plus the 700 dollar mark is getting pretty competitive with other models

I run my 650’s …still for the money ( a fraction of the Focals ) IMHO the ones to beat as they’re what everyone compare new products too😊

I can’t believe channels like this are still recommending the Elex. Focal never resolved their QC issues with this headphone and with how old this model is, they clearly will never improve their QC. And yeah I know anything sold in volume will bound to have issues to a certain extent, but compare the Elex to another Drop headphone, HD6xx. There are WAY fewer complaints about QC issues in that headphone even though I am sure it sells at much higher volume.

Like others have said, there are other good cans within this price range or cheaper. Just buy something else unless you really want to gamble on getting a good pair or not. And many people reported issues shortly after the Elex warranty ran out, so have fun dealing with channel imbalance or dead drivers 😃

At twice the price? Yikes! And unlike Focal, Sennheiser treats their customers well so I know where I’ll head.

Great sounding heaphone, shame the QC issues became abhorrent after the first couple batches. Mine’s still going strong with no issues but hard to recommend them these days without some kind of guarantee

Great sounding headphone, but it is basically a consumable product. The driver lifespan is in the realm of months after which they just stop working overnight. Trust me, I’ve had 4 driver failures over 2 years.

Sorry but the Elex is not an upgrade to the great HD 600, especially in the mid range. Not even close.

Elex is an endgame headphone for me when it comes to an open back. The Elegia is my closed back headphone of choice. I’ve owned and own a lot of of headphones and I’m settling for these. Along with a good amp there’s no reason to spend more money because it’s not going to make a difference that would matter. Such a great headphone for all genres and even makes old outdated recordings sound their best.

I’m really glad to see comment section mention the issues with this headphone/Focal. I got swayed by the hype around this product when i got into the community and bought one, just to have it suddenly fail on me. How people still recommend these is beyond me. Honestly, get anything else at it’s pricepoint or below and you’ll probably be happier with it, and for a lot longer

READ THIS! I reviewed every Focal headhone on my channel, i don’t have sponsors or anything and i’m gonna tell you that ELEX has terrible qc issues. I ordered one from drop and my left driver developed channel imbalance on 2nd day, sent it back and never bought this model. Sound quality wasn’t exceptional either. So many options in the same price range without the trouble. I’d rather pay $500 more for something else then paying more in the long term. Also Focal never responds to any warranty claims. If your warranty expired, you are screwed.
