iOS 16 added this feature that’d tell you if the AirPods you’re trying to connect are not genuine. So if somehow this doesn’t work and these companies find ways to clone that too, the feature’s always gonna help.

This is false actually, I have a collection of real and fake AirPods and this method doesn’t work for all of mine, the only method that works is to make sure that iCloud connect quick switching works, it shows the correct icon in the hearing menu in control centre and if you have AirPods Pro 2, that U1 precision finding works. As of today, there are no replicas with U1 precision finding.

*edit: some have fake iCloud connect so the only way to know it’s real is if it pairs to all of your devices and it shows the animation for when AirPods move to a different device on the first device they were used on.

Why don’t they just make individual serial numbers for each of the airpods and you can go online and entered into see if it’s legit or not that would be a smart thing for Apple to do! Like even when connecting it to the phone habit pop up saying hey these aren’t your airpods connect these airpods than show the serial number below there too so it makes it harder just for them to find a valid serial number and then print it on to the airpods.
