Why isn’t anyone talking about how you were able to simulate the noise cancellation? It was straight-up awesome an probably the first review which actually gives us an idea of how good the headphones are! Great work there man!
I had the XM3s and sold them for few reasons which people don’t really talk about. I travel a lot: plane, train and buses so NC is important to me. Hopefully my comment will help someone out with their purchase decision between XM3 and Bose 700.
Call quality: I loved the XM3 when I got them but the mic for phone calls was just horrible. I found myself disconnecting the headphones and using the phone itself to take phone calls. Bose 700s have probably the best mics on any ANC headphones.
Touch controls: The touch controls do NOT work in cold temperatures. I am in a city where it easily gets to minus 20 celcius and the touch controls would stop working. Bose claims they have tested the 700s in the cold weather to make sure that’s not the case. I’ll be testing this for sure when the weather gets colder.
Static sound: Finally, this is something no one talks about openly but the XM3s would sometimes have static and hissing noise during bumpy bus/train with NC turned up all the way. I noticed this only during bumps and at times its annoying especially when you are in a subway and the train is shifting rails. So far nothing like this on the 700s.
ANC: I have to admit the NC on the 700s is on a next level when you go to level 10. Sonys were amazing but the 700s are better.
Comfort is subjective, so I won’t talk about it.
Same goes for the sound. There is slightly (not by a lot) more bass on the XM3 but 700s bass is great (not over the top). The bass on QC 35 ii was just non existent (one reason I bought the XM3s) but that’s not the case in the 700s. So sound can be subjective depending on what you are listening to. However if someone says 700s are flat then they have never used them. Try them out.
Here is what I found to be better on XM3s.
App: Sonys app is far superior to the Bose app. I used to get occasional disconnects on both android and iOS on 700s when using the app. So I completely stopped using the app and use the normal bluetooth connection which works flawlessly. But have to admit Sony had an EQ in their which I miss.
Ease of carrying: the XM3s fold into a much compact form factor and used to take up less space than the 700s. And since I travel a lot, I really appreciated it.
Hope this helps. You can ask me anything related to these two headphones. I used the XM3s for about 6 months before selling them.
if i need to make calls in a busy environment, should I get them? How is the call quality?
👍
They do not fold up as as the qC 35 do so, the travel case is larger and takes up more space in your kit. Too expensive too. I’ll sick with my QCs.
Shall I go to buy Boss 700 or Sony X3 ?? Want Dolby movie experience sound with comfortable wearing.
On the QC35 there are two options for noice cancelling, not only one mentioned in the video!
This video is Fake News!!!!! Tried both Sonys and Bose. The Sonys are better, with a cheaper price tag.
Sony: Audio quality, anc, battery life, can fold up and a 3.5mm jack
Bose: Call quality, comfort, multi device support (though the sonys have them too.)
I was going to buy some bose headphones but was very suprised with the sony’s. I think they were far more comfortable and snug than the bose 35’s. As to the 700’s, they seem like a more expensive upgrade to what sony has already on the market.
Sony MX3 is still the best.
Thank you for your review I want to know if the headphones can get loud when listening to music? I love my music loud lol I bought the bose sports free loud is like medium it’s not loud enough lol so I know I should have got the quiet II because those would play loud music lol
Bose nerfing the nc on the qc35ii’s by firmware update…. Shame on you Bose. I feel ripped off.
????? The sony is lighter and has less clamping pressure – something not right here lol
Thanks for your review good job, I appreciate it. Ignore all the Bose haters. The XM3’s are nice but their controls stop working in the cold, they make my head hot and ears sweat and can’t pair to two devices simultaneously. I do agree that the cost of the Bose is way too high. Not enough value for the $$ for me. Sounds like they are great for you though.
No comparison to the Sony’s.
For travel I definitely stick with the Bose 700’s which also replaced my QC35’s
Before the 35’s I was using the Marshal monitors. Wired. Not movie cancelling. But noise isolation. They did pretty good on planes. Sound quality is amazing. I now keep the monitor Bluetooth in my laptop bag at work. They sound almost as great as the wired version. Try them out. I love them. If Bose had their sound quality and the Bose noise cancelation they’d be worth what ever they priced them at.
I purchased the Bose 700s from Dell with my most recent laptop and my new 2 & 1 notebook. for the $100.00 difference and the continued. soft wear problems glitches, my Bose 35,s and even my sisters Sony’s were as good in Sony’s 700 for $100.00 less. I personally think Bose were behind behind and the rushed to get back in the market. I did not keep the 700s and I am glad I at least gave them a try. I am going to wait a while.
The one feature I like is that they can be used even if the battery runs out like regular earphones 😅🙃
using the PLT back beat pro 2, thinking of getting the sony !
