And still best sounding cheap IEMs are single DD
I enjoy speakers infinitely more than headphones and IEMs.
I like some headphones, but I don’t love any of them. The only one ive found for me is the Fical Clear OG but it’s not good for competitive gaming:( Iems are really where it’s at for me, i love so many of them because they’re so good for music and gaming
best IEM without shelling for big bucks still a single DD.
I agree. I’ve purchased & resold many of the hyped, mid tier, mid priced headphones like DT 1990 Pro’s, HD 58X & currently still own the Dan Clark Aeon 2’s o/b & my current IEM’s the Variations just sound a lot more detailed & enjoyable. I’ve been burned by a lot of the “hyped” headphones but have been eyeing the Meze 109 Pro’s but kind of scared to pull the trigger thinking I’ll be disappointed yet again & have to re-list for sale.
Isn’t that a very simplistic view of things. A headphone is much better placed to replicate the performance of a speaker, while IEMs will struggle to do that.
Thus, EQ
Your opinion obviously but I’ve a feeling your going to get a lot disagreeing with you here🤔
IEM’s I have around 35 pairs and Full Size Over ears around 30 pairs.
For outdoor listening it’s a toss up between my Fave IEM’s wired or Bluetooth or my Bluetooth Full Size Headphones.
Home listening sorry but IEM’s just don’t cut it when I want to relax but My Sennheiser HD600/650/660s
And 58X linked to my Rolled Tube Amp with FLAC files Or my Audeze LCD-2C linked to my THX AAA 789 amplifier playing FLAC files just does it for me and I find that kind of sound IEM’s just can’t do.
So I Disagree totally with your review.
The thing when it comes to Precog is, he doesn’t listen to a product for more than 10-15 minutes. His preferences are usually from 300$ and up. He listens to only Kpop and Jpop. I personally won’t purchase something based on his suggestions alone, if I ever had that much money to spend
Well, after I bought the HD660S several months ago, I have no intention to buy IEMs at all because the tuning from the HD660S is literally what I’m looking for. So yeah, unless it’s 64audio, I think I won’t buy any IEMs.
In the opposite camp for sure, I just can’t seem to like or love IEMs. Even the most comfortable ones I can’t wear for more than 60 minutes, but as it would relate to the sound I just don’t hear where tuning makes up for the lack of stage, dynamic impact (in space), or coherency. That’s just my preference, when I listen to a song or a piece or a standard, it’s for the whole not the stems. IEMs can be an incredible value, they’re a very capable and affordable tool I’m sure for folks working in creating or editing audio.. but I’ve never been listening to one of my ZMFs lamenting it wasn’t tuned like an IEM. At a certain point it’s going to depend on what you value from the stuff you listen to vs. any given tuning imo. I would sort of argue that tuning is overrated given how people bring their own hearing sensitivities and deficiencies to the table. I’d rather know the characteristics of the device in broad and narrow terms, and in a very general sense the “inside my head” sound of an IEM, for me, will always be way less preferable to the staging of headphones, just like speaker people would say they can’t deal with putting something in their ears or on their heads.
I like the cohesion of single DD…don’t have to worry about distortion or phase coherency at the crossover points
Best thing I can say about this is that you are certainly free to have this very bad opinion.
Headphones are overpriced and most budget ones have wonky tuning. You have to spend way to much to get something like HD6xx that’s actually decently tuned. Even the HD 560s is too expensive for what it offers. Truthear Hexa beats any sub 200 headphone. The only advantage (open back) headphones have is soundstage.
I really can’t handle the “ear rape”…sorry
Single driver iems can be tuned amazingly i.e etymotic er4xr, fiio fd7, ie 600
I would have to agree that IEMs offer much better tuning at lower price points. While I love the HD600, I have to admit they don’t sound quite as “complete” in their tuning as the similarly priced B2 Dusk. I also find that the best headphones at $300 don’t out-resolve the best IEMs at that price point.
I see where he comes from but I still enjoy over-the-ear headphones. But then again this is coming from someone whose best audio devices are the Blessing 2 Dusk and the 99 Noir, and who doesn’t understand nearly half of what audiophile reviewers talk about.
I’m still here for it, though. 😆
