To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with both of them. So if you’re coming from a Bose QC 35, save your money.

One correction: You said the Bose doesn’t have the “talkthrough” feature so you can quickly chat with someone and allow noise in. It actually does have this, you click and hold the button on the left earcup for about 1 full second to pause. Then click it again to resume. I think it does a really good job.

How can we compare the 700 with the XM4? XM4 is the latest offering from Sony and 700 is an yesteryear product. This is no way a fair comparison.

Bose best in NC? 🤨 Weird, when the 700 came out all reviews I’ve seen said the XM3 were better, and that things got just better with the XM4 now

The explanation for the short cable of the Sony is right there: you can’t use them when charging, and they give you so much juice in a few minutes that it doesn’t really matter. With 30hrs you go for so long… I charge my XM3 once a week, while preparing dinner for example, or during lunch break at work. The short cable never seemed a problem

Just a head’s up that the interface sounds from the Bose 700 are really LOUD when turning the power ON/OFF, connecting/disconnecting, and even when you turn the volume to zero there is a REALLY LOUD baboooom sound effect. Bose’s term for it is an ‘orchestral stab’. Well, it certainly is a stab. Totally outrageous. No way to turn it off either. Unaffected by turning off voice prompts, muting notifications, etc. I’m a huge Bose fan, but this is bananas. Also, as of today, the firmware update that includes the equalizer is not available since they recalled it.

+95 flight segments this year already (yes, even with the Covid-19 situation) .. I use the Bose for all the reasons you mentioned (ANC, video calls, phone calls). No issues, .. also like that I can pair to 2 devices at the same time (has Sony addressed this yet?) I’m not a great audiophile so I find the Bose sound quality for music acceptable (tried the Sony XM3 and could hear the difference)

I was using my M4’s wireless with nc while they were on charge whilst watching this video, plus the 2 device connectivity on the M4’s is an awesome feature!

Just purchased the Sony WH-1000XM4 after watching many many reviews and comparisons, and I absolutely love it, and although I have the aviation Bose A20, which is the king in the aviation world, and the ANC is outstanding, but when it comes to headphones, I think that Sony nailed it with the WH-1000XM4

Lol he really said the Bose had better noise canceling…? I have the xm3, xm4 and the Bose and the Sony’s by far have way better noise canceling, the xm3 have better nc then the 700 but for sure the xm4 have way better noise canceling. I feel like he has gotten a email or two from Bose

I have both Sony and Bose and my biggest complaint on both is that the volume just does not go as loud as I would like. Anyone else have this issue or know a fix ?
