So this is subjective but I find that at least for me the Sony has better noise canceling on actual planes. But there are ways to objectively test this. They do have small in-ear mics used for laboratory research and hearing tests that you could actually do a scientific analysis of the noise that actually reaches the ears and what frequencies are being blocked and by how much. Also, I honestly wish they stopped adding the cables in the box. With Type C and PD being a thing why do we need more cables?

Couple of issues: Bose NC700 does have touch/swipe controls and you also never mentioned the charging case that Bose offers which I think is a very important feature option.

I have been reading in Bose forum about a lot of complaints using the 700 with ZOOM calls the Bluetooth getting disconnected and the battery reporting less time. People in the forums are very frustrated because these issues have not been resolved after months since they were survived. What is your experience with ZOOM? Issues?

Based on just about every review, Sony has better noise canceling (ANC). The reviewers recorded the ANC between the 1000XM4 and Bose 700 and I agree with them. The Sony ANC is better.

The ANC on the XM4’s is a level better than the Bose 700. Sorry but I think your set might be defective. It’s not even a fair fight, I have tried both and it isn’t even close. Did you firmware update because it makes a difference in ANC and call quality. Although you are right call quality is not as good as the Bose 700 I find it is acceptable. I haven’t had any issues with wind or loud music playing in the background while talking on the phone. The other side says they can hear the music but it lowers when I talk so I sound clear enough.

I’m all about the sound! While the Bose noise cancelling can’t be beat, the Sound on the Sony is way better, especially since you can edit the sound profile in the app! I agree about the power cable though, pathetic! Still, the M4 is my choice!

I changing from Bose to Sony because two important things: 1. Components quality, all my latest Sony headphones are aging prove, but Bose is disappointing, the ear cups are extremely bad, without a continuous use the deterioration is terrible and each replacement cost 40 US dollars. I suffer similar quality issues with in ear Bose headphones, bad quality in general, things broken or attached with glue, poor quality in an excellent design 2. Comfort and pain, Bose noise cancelling is painful for me, the pressure is terrible and with long use the damage will be associate with acoustic health problems. In other hand Sony noise cancelling didn’t produce me this painful sensation, the control of noise cancellation is better implemented for Sony.

Sony until Bose improve the quality and the painful noise cancelling be replaced for something better. The only thing that Sony fails is with the USB C cable, to short, please give us something better a long braided cable please.
