Bose just updated its Bose 700 app with an added EQ and the sound is great 👍. I was a little bit disappointed at first because I purchased the Bose 700 a three weeks ago and the music sound was flat and ordinary but now I’m freaking happy. I can manipulate the bass, mids and treble with the minus 10 and higher 10. The sound has been greatly improved. I do recommend the Bose 700 for a better NC feature and music sound with the new EQ feature added.

The 700’s have an equalizer now ❤️ I think this has closed a significant performance gap! The Bose App is a notable add on now.

No, the Bose automatically samples the noise and adjust for the noise canceling. Adjusting for the quality, just use the equalizer in whatever device you are using. I had one of the noise-canceling last years model headphones, but now I use the Bose QC20 canceling headphones for Android devices, yes they are wired, but I can charge them while I’m using it.

Everything is good in SONY way but CALL quality is the worst and worthless at the end of the day.

After all features including.. Call Quality is the major thing…

Sony has totally neglected its way in Handling.

Sony WH-1000XM4’s battery life only lasts 19 hours. Not bad but saying that it lasts 30 hours is a scam IMO.

Bose now has an EQ in the 1.7.0 update which has been available to everyone since September 14th I’ve finally been able to update and I can say it brings them right back up to the experience I’ve been enjoying with the XM4. The XM4 I believe still does have better really really low bass, the sort you have in films/movies, not so much in music. Before the EQ I would say the XM4 just won for me (except for the too large headband for my head), with the EQ the Bose is right back up there and personally now my choice. I’m really impressed that the NC700 which is a year older can still stand up against the giant of Sony. But man, they messed up with their firmware over the past few months.
Reasons to still chose the XM4: DTSEE extreme but this reduces battery life down to 21 hours. True battery life is about 28 hours. Bose true battery life is about 21 hours. You want that really down low bass, speak to chat feature, automatic pause when taking off. “Smart” automatic noise cancellation/passthrough, but I turned that off, it never got it right. If you don’t have a small head then the Sony’s are more comfortable and feel a lot lighter on your head, less clamping force. They might make your head warmer than the Bose due to the bigger cups and squishier pads.
Reasons to chose the Bose: Quite a lot cheaper if you get them on sale. A more natural sound signature.. Virtually no brown/pink noise when music is paused. Passthrough is like not wearing them. They have what I can only explain as a smoother experience when using them. Pressing power button briefly powers them on, no need to hold for two seconds. They don’t fold but the case is only slightly larger, none of the floppy confusing mess that I find the Sony is but you’ll get used to that. Volume swipe I prefer, it feels like an analogue knob on an amp, you can adjust anywhere between 1-30 steps in a single swipe and back down in that same swipe. Sony has swipe and hold to continue adjusting, seems to be 3% in a single swipe.

Sony over Bose all day. Play anything at 50% volume and you’ll be fully immersed in the music. Better battery life, better app, about equal ANC, Hi-Fi certified, and much better equalizer. Bose have better call quality but after that it’s over.
