I have the sony one. My husband got it for me for Christmas and I love it sooo much. It actually drowns out my husband’s snoring! Lol. The bass is awesome. The only problem is sometimes I accidentally touch the outside of it with my shoulder if I’m laying in bed and it skips the video I’m watching. Lol. Other than that, I’m in love with them! I’m wearing them right now. They are also very comfortable. I can wear them for hours and the battery life is what it says. It also charges very fast.

I don’t like the XM4s and this is why:
The sony app is too complex / many unnecessary features. You have to test so many combinations of settings to find the sweet spot.
Touch controls can take a while too learn.
Noise cancelation is good but not the best.
Mic + ambient sound is alright, but still needs work.
The pause-when-taking-them-off feature can be annoying when making calls. When you take them off it switches audio from your headphones to your phone, but when you put them back on it doesn’t come back.
Prolonged use hurts my ears (this only affects certain people).
They can get a little warm after a while. Note: The last two on the list come from a comparison to other top tier noise cancelling headphones; The XM4s don’t have much ear space inside.

Bose 700 NC 20 hours battery life? – not for those who got 1.4.2 firmware update. Battery life is reduced to 15 – 17 hours after full charge. This firmware is retired by Bose due to many serious bugs such as white/red blinking BTW… And no fix or any official statement for the last several months from Bose, it looks like they can’t fix it IMO.

Moreover, stuttering when connected to multiple devices makes impossible to use 700’s with more than one Bluetooth device at the same time.

No mention of the *shockingly* bad firmware update nonsense going on with the Bose? They’ve twice released firmware which can brick the headphones, rendering them inoperative. They’re now limiting users to an older version of firmware with far fewer features and known bugs (stuttering on some BT connections). They simply don’t work as they’re intended to, and Bose are really struggling to fix it.

No contest for me: The Bose NC 700’s were returned just over 24 hours after I bought them as they are *useless* and can’t perform the basic function they were built for. Just waiting for my Sony XM4s to arrive.

5:15 on the bose you can tap to pause and answer calls, and double tap to skip song triple skip to go back to previous song.

Everybody else says that even SONY XM3 are better than BOSE ANC 700 and here this guy said that BOSE are ANC king??? I’ve XM3 and do not plan to buy XM4 or BOSE 700. ANC on my XM3 is more than enough for me.

Great review. Thanks. Just a quick note, Bose NC 700 does have all the touch options you mentioned XM4 can do. In Bose the buttons are for turning on and off etc. Play/Pause, Answer phone call forward/backward etc are touch. Siri and Alexa can also be enabled w tap on the over ear caps.

DO YOU KNOW IF THE BOSE WORK ON THE PS4? My xm2 and xm 3 dont work on ps4 even though ps4 sees them. very wierd and messed up as both headset and ps4 are sony products.

I prefer no charging cables included with the product. I have so many A to C cables I never use.
I buy my own chargers and C to C cables, so I have more and more unnecessary cables lying around my room every time I buy something.

audio is subjective but Sony is definitely the winner to me. I tested Bose QC 35 II several times and still hesitating but only after 1 try on Sony 1000XM3, i bought it straight away at the Sony store! I dont understand why is QC II so highly rated in the first place.?

You’re kidding me right when you said Bose ANC is better ? I have both, I used Bose for nearly a year and I just got my XM4 and updated to the latest firmware and in my opinion, Sony is way better in ANC than Bose. Sony cancels more when people around are talking , compared to Bose.

I‘m wondering if someone did test the usability in regards of WFH. Connected to two device, switching from Zoom/Teams call to mobile call. or even how the headphones reacte during an active call, lets say with Zoom, and another call comes in on mobile. will the active call be interrupted? how smooth does the headphone switch from one to the other device?
